Basketball Rutgers Basketball adds Lehigh to OOC schedule

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/rutgers/men/1967-schedule.html 2/11/67; score was 45-43. It must have been really traumatic for me to come that close to remembering the details of 58 years ago!

Basketball Rutgers Basketball adds Lehigh to OOC schedule

No, we lost to Lehigh way back in the Bob Lloyd era. Carril was coaching them—an away game—something like 44-42.

Never thought I would say this but Go Penn State!

Tough for RU sports board fans: Do we hate anyone more than these two? Is it like Iraq vs. Iran? Or is Michigan above them in the “love to hate” ranking? (My impression is that OSU doesn’t raise the hackles that these guys do.)

    Indy Anyone?

Don’t know where I’ll be sitting (IU alum son got the tickets), but will probably be wearing my “I like Pike” T-shirt. It’s a great place to watch college B-Ball. Missed the “Hoosier Daddy” win, but was at another game—we lost but it was a good game. Hopefully Dylan will carry on dad’s tradition...

    OT: Bobby Knight Has Passed

Thanks for the friendly correction. I graduated in ‘68, so must have only seen one hard-fought loss against Knight!

    OT: Bobby Knight Has Passed

A joke in Indiana at the time was that Bob Knight opened a furniture store in Bloomington—buy a couch and he’ll throw in a chair!

    OT: Bobby Knight Has Passed

Never forget watching Knight at the Barn when he was coaching Army. The crowd really got on him and he reacted to us, but he always won. We thought he played dirty, but I realized later that it was really the aggressive defense for which he became famous. Living in Indiana 1976-77 and since...

OSU Game could be Pandemonium in Piscataway Part II

I should know, but I’ve been deflated too often over more than 50 years as an RU football “follower”—starting with losing at the last second on a 2-pt conversion at Princeton my senior year. Not “blaming” anyone so much as having the kind of “tragic sense” Cubs fans had before they started...

OT: Penn State 700M stadium renovation

Actually the piece takes issue with a feminist interpretation. An orthodox Christian interpretation on the “Let us” is that it is a reference to the Trinity.

    The old Rutgers Princeton rivalry

When I was a freshman at RU I saw us lose to Bill Bradley at the barn. A couple of years later I was in the overflow crowd in the “new” addition to the barn and watched on a screen as 6’9” sophomore phenom Chris Thomforde dominated us in the middle. 2 years after that I was a first-year grad...
