    Parochial Schools

For what it's worth, I've taught and coached at both private (religious) and public schools. In my opinion, the private schools have an advantage over public schools. In some places it might be a big advantage... in others, there may not be an advantage at all (although I believe the...

    11-man to 8-man/8-man to 11-man

I'm shocked that LHNE doesn't have the numbers. I wonder if they're enrollment is shrinking- but the numbers of boys out for football is still (relatively) high. There are schools with 90 kids... but 40 of them play football. And then there are schools with 150 kids... but only 20 go out for...

    Opting to go 8 man

Actually, Conestoga had a fair number of players out for football (41, according to MaxPreps). And they actually have a couple of decent players. They just have a long tradition of losing, which is hard to break sometimes. The ONLY reason for them to move down is because they don't know how...

    11-man to 8-man/8-man to 11-man

West Holt is dropping down? Wow. That's a quality program... and they can't field enough to stay in Class C2? So sad...

    1st round upset

I think Boone Central has a real good chance of beating Wilber... and I think Syracuse might surprise and beat Boys Town. I really like West Holt and think they've got a chance to beat DT (even though DT is pretty battle-tested) And, yeah, it's not a wild prediction- but I think Crofton will...

    Who wins class C2?

I don't really consider them to be a "sleeper" team... but I think BC wins it all. To go undefeated with their schedule is a real accomplishment.

SE NE football in C2 and weak districts

I have spent more than 20 years as either a high school coach or official. I'm not a "fan"... and I'm not "hiding" anything. When I was directly involved with those programs that did those things, I took my concerns to the administrations. That's how those things are supposed to be handled...

SE NE football in C2 and weak districts

Actually, I was a member of the coaching staff of that program. And, yes, I reported it to the administration. But as long as the head coach wins football games, that's all that matters. (I resigned from the staff after that season)

Good idea. Which means it probably won't be enacted...

SE NE football in C2 and weak districts

I don't think there is any doubt that football in the NE is played at a higher level than in the SE. But, having spent time in both areas, I can also say that I don't think that that is necessarily a feather in the cap of the schools in the NE. One (that I know of) team practices on Sunday...

Opinion on when to pull starters from a game?

Honestly, on any given Friday night... you can go to a high school football game and see some coach "running it up" on the other team. Check the box scores! But it only makes that head coach look like an ***... but it happens. I've seen it happen dozens of times. One of the worst was when a...

    Another week, another school forfeiting....

See? Told you... ;) http://journalstar.com/sports/high-school/prep-football-extra-credit/article_abcde4d8-9938-568e-a72f-cba79a2f083f.html Quote from the above article from the Journal Star: "Johnson County Central: Had just 15 players for homecoming game against Conestoga and lost one to...

    Another week, another school forfeiting....

You sound like a kid who is afraid of having to compete on a more level playing field. And who are you going to hold accountable for situations in small towns where the immigrant population (legal or otherwise) has swelled the numbers of their school... while the number of students out for...
