Q of the Week: Are we (Illinois) getting better as a football state?

As I said above (sorry it was so Long😂) I am looking at this purely through the eyes of college recruiting which may be to narrow, but we are not in the top 10. I love IL HS football. I coached it for 25 years & am on year 3 of bringing colleges to our players. But the word Top Heavy is...

Q of the Week: Are we (Illinois) getting better as a football state?

This is a great question & you guys have done a great job analyzing it. I have spent a lot of time next to Edgy the past 2+ years watching the boys in Illinois play football. I work for National Preps right now and am directly helping college coaches get necessary info on our players. After...

    Week 13 CCL/ESCC RockSoup® Prediction Thread

Alright men of the CCL, I need your help. I really enjoy reading your posts each week, you guys are the best. I am a 26 year coach from the suburbs whose son finished last spring at Naz and now is playing football at Navy. I now work for National Preps (took over for Clint Cosgrove) and cover...

How did the Class of 2018 pan out?

Agree. Lake Park also had Keonta Nixon go to CMU & a bunch of talented FCS/D2/D3 kids. Wheaton North was loaded that year. NC had Peyton Thorne throwing to Jaden Reed plus plenty of other talent. NN had Drake Davis throwing to Calcagno and others. GBN had loaded of skill kids (& Newsome at...

How did the Class of 2018 pan out?

My guy Perrion Winfrey from Lake Park finished strong at Oklahoma these past two seasons and fell to the 4th round in the NFL Draft to the Browns. So he joins Newsome there, who he grew up knowing & playing against.

    More difficult recruiting year?

    One time transfer is correct.

    More difficult recruiting year?

Congrats to you and your son. GVSU is such a great program and they do an amazing job recruiting the Chicago area. Coach Louis is first class and no BS. That is why they consistently win. Good luck. And YES to everything you guys are talking about. 2022 was a S*#@ show for recruiting. The...

    More difficult recruiting year?

Correct. That is why the college coaches this week are trying to all about solutions to this. Some coaches are going to maintain building through high school recruiting w/ taking a random portal kid, but some are clearly using the portal as a major building block. It’s a bit of chaos. We...

    More difficult recruiting year?

And now it’s going to promote the transfer portal even more. So many 21 & 22 players that are studs that didn’t get the offer they probably deserved are going to be standouts at the schools that scored them and then the bigger schools are going to sweep in and grab them once they put themselves...

    More difficult recruiting year?

We all the the '21 class had it the worst, until the '22 kids got recruited. Structurally the '21 class had it worst(like you said) but a LOT of '21s had been seen soph/junior film and there were full amounts of scholarships to give so they gave them. This '22 class was left with scraps. Edgy...

    College Bowl Games (Illinois Players)

And in that Peach Bowl win for MSU Jacub Panasiuk (Lake Park) had 2 TFLs and a sack (in the final drive before the pick 6 to seal it). Jacub also set the MSU record last night for most career games played by a Spartan. Super happy for him and look forward to seeing him join his brother Mike in...

    Underrated/Under recruited players

My son just finished this process and tested well during COVIC fall (but as a ‘22 he lost his summer camps before junior year and was nursing knee issues before senior year-his only camp summer was before soph year) and I helped kids through this since 1 day camps started back in the day. If a...

    Underrated/Under recruited players

I agree with Edgy. For all of the college coaches I dealt with, and the recruits they were looking at, they were dying to get our players to their one day camps after seeing their soph/junior film to see them in person, watch them move against other players, and run some tests. But those one...

    College Bowl Games (Illinois Players)

Lake Park has Jacub Panasiuk (the last of the two brothers there) at Michigan State in the Peach Bowl & then Perrion Winfrey(also Lake Park) was supposed to be playing for Oklahoma vs. Oregon but just declared for the draft and opted out, which is a shame.
