Iowa hires former Iowa QB and Colt's OC Tom Moore as Senior Consultant to the Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator

He was a graduate assistant coach for us from 1961-1962. Must be weird taking a job with your old employer after being away for 64 years.

Luka Garza signs with the Celtics

It isn’t the athleticism so much as the shooting range for bigs and the offenses designed to get 1 on 1 mismatches. You’d be hard pressed to find a center today more athletic than young Shaq from 30+ years ago or one with the moves of Hakeem 40 years ago. But does anyone think that Hakeem...

***CC22 and the Fever mega thread***

Not CC or the Fever, but Kate Martin was cut from the Golden State team today. We'll have to wait and see if any team wants to pick her up. Considering the depth in the league at her position I think her career may be over though. Two seasons more than most of us thought she was going to have.

Will making Elite 8 impact recruiting?

Success breeds success. Making the elite eight will drive more dollars in donations to help recruit players. Almost the only thing that matters anymore in recruiting the top players is money. Unless you're Duke.

Clown U will have access to up to a $30M line of credit from RedBird Capital Partners that would have to be paid back w/ a Double-Digit Interest Rate

This is so true. This is an arms race and if a school blinks when it comes to spending, it is all over for them. ISU needs to blink as these are bad terms for an institution like them.

    Brayton Alford commits to Hawks

Oldest one named Kory, the red head, was a marginal D1 player. Transferred to UCLA to finish his career after has dad moved there. He'd previously played for Steve at NM but I think he was a walk on at UCLA. The younger one named Bryce, the blonde, was a legitimate D1 player and played his...

76 NCAA Tournament Teams in 2026-27

Looking at our history this century, I wonder how many times an expanded field would have helped us get a team in. Alford 2002, 8th in Big Ten with a 5-11 record, but a 19-15 overall record after a BTT run to the championship game. Probably doesn't get an invite. 2003, 8th in Big Ten with a 7-9...

    2027 Recruiting

The high school recruits that we can afford will rarely come in and make an instant impact. Transfers are a more known commodity and the ones we can afford could help us get back to the tourney.

***CC22 and the Fever mega thread***

Problem is that this is two straight WNBA coaches that have tried to do this. They keep on trying to "outsmart the room" as coaches. She will need possessions where she isn't the primary ball handler bringing the ball up the court, for "rest" and to combat defensive tactics attacking her. But...

***CC22 and the Fever mega thread***

Thankfully it is an unprotected contract. I think this front office rested too much on the laurels of making the semis last year and decided to mostly run it back while other teams improved. Retaining Dantas instead of looking for a better backup big is a major problem. Signing KM to a super...

    New QB commit Brayden Santibanez

Tape looks good, but I wonder about the competition level. When I see a 6’3” quarterback 30 yards past the line of scrimmage and running away from defensive backs on a TD run, I wonder about the quality of opponents. Some of the highlights looked like he was playing against freshman squads...

Who was your favorite KO/PR in the last 20 years?

20 years excludes great returners like Dwight, Hill, Jones, Lewis, and Hinkel. Brodell, DJK, Martin-Manley, King, ISM, Jones, DeJean, and Wetjen were probably our best of the past 20 years. I probably put Wetjen at the top of the list, just like Dwight you figured something great was going to...

Thomas Haugh of Florida has a One Year deal reportedly close to $10 million.

I’m not talking about the athletics revenue. I’m talking about the schools where the AD operates in the red and the school has to provide money to them. Schools like ISU that charge an athletics fee to students in order to support their teams. Why should a student who doesn’t participate in any...

Thomas Haugh of Florida has a One Year deal reportedly close to $10 million.

I didn’t realize that I had to write and defend a PhD thesis on a message board. Everything can be solved, maybe not to everyone’s satisfaction though. In the grand scheme of things it does seem odd that we’re funneling 10s of millions of dollars per school to support a minuscule fraction of...

Thomas Haugh of Florida has a One Year deal reportedly close to $10 million.

The easiest solution is decouple athletics from academic institutions, the way they do this in Europe. In many ways the concept of a “student athlete” in football or basketball at a D1 school is bogus anymore anyway. You’ve had well respected schools like North Carolina risking their academic...
