Imagine how these Cactus Guys would have felt if they had lived through the Celtics reign of titles or the Yankees title runs. No mention is made about wrestlers wanting to attend PSU or for that matter, any of the most successful programs. Recency bias and lack of perspective causes these...
Great piece! I'm shocked that Tim Curley could have had reservations about Cael bringing his coaching staff. How could any AD think that acquiring a "blue blood", aka greatest of all time, would be happy to piecemeal a staff together. Especially when the PSU Wrestling program needed a total...
All of the portal talk and possibilities make me wonder how Cael handles recruiting. Can you tell a recruit that we really want you but we may recruit someone else next week that you can't beat. How does he keep morale high while surfing the "marketplace"?
Great article, Greg. You captured all of the questions that will require resolution prior to next season. I hope that Carter and Aaron find a way to accomplish their dreams while still competing for fourth NCAA titles.

One of my most memorable take-aways from this NCAA Tournament will be SVN's reaction to his major deficit (9-1) with the Maryland wrestler. It was as though he realized that his entire season was going to be decided by the outcome of that match. He actually looked angry! That aggression and...
Bob Prince lived in my transistor radio and brought the Pirates into my childhood. I often fell asleep with the radio under my pillow during west coast games. 1960, '71 and '79 were amazingly special for a team that knew despair and losing and The Gunner was at his finest. The Hal Smith homer in...
