    I’ve never understood coaches that just ignore special teams. Good kickers, returners and coverage units can absolutely flip games. I would bet most teams have a couple games every year that are swung by special teams plays. It makes no sense to punt on special teams (pun intended).

    I think you hit the biggest factor. Iowa’s QB’s largely don’t run much and, traditionally, they have a strong OL.     If you watched closely, each team was called for one PI (IIRC), but mostly the refs were letting them play. I thought they missed several PIs each way.

    I saw more than one play where Epenesa gave him 2 hands to the chest to stand him up and another round to knock him down.
