Yes but we are talking about downtown Jackson. You could build an arena in the suburbs I suppose but it's better for all involved if it's centralized in your biggest urban area.
I was actually talking about this with a guy earlier. I was talking about how lucky Auburn gets in general. He then proceeded to remind me of 1983, 1993 and 2004, when they got a 10 incher rammed up their behind each time. It's all about vantage point I guess.
Even Auburn, as a program, had won at a very high clip for many years though. That 2010 title just stings us more because of how it went down. Realistically, nothing about their program happened overnight.
Convention Center should have never happened. That was just the City's and State's unwillingness to work together. We could have a very nice set up with a newly modernized Trade Mart + Coliseum.
Good question.
The title itself is just for pride, a tangible accomplishment. If you can raise a ton of money and enrollment by simply winning 'enough' rather than winning a title, well that accomplishes the same mission.
First thing to do is put Halter at SS. The other combinations after that don't matter, some variation of Westburg, Allen, Hatcher and Cumbest at 2B, 1B and DH. We've at least got to get SS shored up. If we aren't going to do that, let's just go offense-heavy and move Allen to 2B and put...
The key is to get an 'average' crowd that is somewhat repeatable. The huge crowds, a few times per year, freak our own players out just as much as they do the opposing players.
Cohen knew what he was doing with the stadium.
I don't know, our fanbase would crack out if we won the baseball title, and that might attract attention.
I mean, we started the first wave of baseball popularity and we didn't even win anything.
What "treatment"? Who is this boogeyman? If you want to blame somebody blame Scott Stricklin.
We haven't had the right combination of effort and talent. Fans can't handle that dumb crap we saw this year, the same crap that ran rampant in Stansbury's program from 2006 on.
I think this will...
