    Not many places get dark at 4:00 or earlier. Contrast that with the number of places that would be still be dark at 8 am when most students are arriving at school with Daylight Saving Time.

    Are you willing to share the state you live in or the latitude? I live in SW Iowa and it's never dark at 4 pm winter or summer. Also time zone matters as well as latitude.
