    If your standard is “absolutely no sophomore and up contributors whatsoever”, then yeah, you’re probably never going to have a “freshmen team” win it all. I mean, in all the years we’ve had Cal, have we ever been able to say that we didn’t have at least one sophomore who got significant minutes?

    Briscoe did everything at least decent except shoot. He drove, finished, passed, rebounded, defended. I’d take that 100 times out of 100.

    Sucks. He was in that short list of “elite” players in this class, although admittedly Zion and RJ deserve their own tier.

    SKJ is light years ahead of Richards right now...

    The Harrison’s were overrated out of high school, in that they didn’t really live up to what you generally expect out of a top 5-6 player. They were decent at a lot of things but weren’t outstanding at anything really. They were just steady dudes.

    There are *some* legitimate worries/criticisms. For instance, I do have a concern about our ability to still land that elite, top 1-2 stud. But complaining about perimeter shooting after one game, or who’s getting the start after three games into the season, etc......

    Remember when everyone complained about Cal keeping the Harrison’s in against Wisky because they’d earned it? Now people are complaining that Cal isn’t putting in the guys thatve “earned” it. We’ve come full circle. Can’t win.

    We can rationalize why we lose certain guys, but at the end of the day, they’re going to help other teams win instead of ours.

    For starters, we’re still recruiting insanely well. We’re recruiting more than well enough to compete with every team we play. The only slightly worrisome part, from my perspective, is that we aren’t landing the absolute, cream of the crop, guaranteed superstars with the frequency that we used...
