    Pope really is playing chess while the rest of the college basketball world plays checkers. He had the foresight to know this wouldn’t be Santos’ best game, thereby allowing Pope to negotiate from a position of true strength. Money saved. Other suitors thrown off by the stats. NIL wizard.

I truly think we’d hear some recruiting pitches and NIL strategies that would make us seriously question if they were meant as jokes or reality.

    He could / should play an Ansley Almonor roll, in which case we’d be pretty happy to hear the news. Instead, by necessity, he’s going to wind up playing starter minutes, which will be completely unacceptable for a program and coach already on the brink of calamity.
