    California is going to allow college players to get paid

    This isn't really a pay for play deal. If a kid can make money off of their likeness than so be it. If you are on academic scholarship you can, why shouldn't a student athlete be afforded the same opportunity. Of course there are going to be some pitfalls and some shady recruiting practices...

    I dont think I ever compared my relationship with my dad with yours. My dad and I had a great relationship, he just had some disillusion when it came to his kids that clouded his judgement and his reactions to perceived transgressions against his kids that were mostly made up on his own head...

    Just to be devil's advocate here - there are a lot more opportunities for kids to play sports now and now there are more opportunities for girls to compete in varsity sports.
