I went to that Press Conference. I was begging for the Knicks to lose at the end of their year as Pitino couldnt come to UK till they did. Pitino said one thing that day I have never forgotten. Some reporter asked the question how long do you think it will take you to win here?
Pitino...
Been a host of great losses I could refer to, but one stands out in particular. It was in 1981 and UL the defending National Champions were playing Arkansas. US Reed hits a 75 foot last second shot in the NCAA 2nd round, to win the game for Arkansas 74-73. It was a clear Sunday afternoon in...
Still have my ticket stub. That particular team well could have won the NBA championship that year as well. Hell of a team that were a complete team. Great defensive team. Had the size and toughness that could impose their will on about any team. Could score from any position!
I have been going to UK games since the 50’s. Seen in person every UK coach obviously since Coach Rupp. IMO the best of all of them has been Pitino. The jury is out on Coach Pope as he like Pitino came into a tough situation. Coach Pitino biggest mistake ever was not going to Boston, but...
I am throughly convinced that Coach Pitino would have won 5-6 more titles. If I am not mistaken from his year 1 till he left he had more wins than any coach in college basketball. He had the style the recruits and the backing from the administration. I’m not sure I ever saw the fans more behind...
Coach Rupp was the General Manager of the ABA'S Memphis TAMS. I actually attended a TAMS game and Coach walked in and the crowd went crazy. That had to be about 72 or 73 maybe.
Love the folks that can look at a piece of paper and their next words are a resounding "No Thanks". Im thinking lets maybe see what the Coach thinks,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The 90 season was one of the best seasons I have ever seen. Forget Portal, we were on probation. No TV, banned from the SEC & NCAA tournament. To show how much basketball missed Kentucky that year, the next
year the SEC went to the NCAA begging them to let us be back on TV but also let us play...
If DA played he would have won it, and my guess is Pitino would have stayed to see if he could have won 3 in a row. DA wanted to play but RP was fear full of injuring his knee again.
The truth about the 1998 team was that at one point the team had it with Tubby. Pitino’s teams were running, shooting 3’s, and a good defensive team. By the Mississippi game on Valentine’s Day at home they had had it with Tubby. UK lost that game and after the game most of the team silently...
I should have added at 6-9 230 and having signed with UK to begin with, knows Kentucky to begin with. He played high school ball at "Word of God" (should sound familiar as Wall played there). If I am going to take a chance on anyone its this guy.
Absolutely take him. The guy can play. He is a physical freak. Lets say he can ease into it starting in Sep. He is up to full speed by December, maybe January 1st. This kid can play!
