    With Buchanan, you have to hope that he stays healthy and reverts to his freshman year. He shot the ball better as a freshman, too.

    He played well as a freshman. This past year he battled injuries. Fans need to give him a chance. I hope the staff brings in a shooter at the 2 who can defend and a defensive presence at the 5.

    They would be role players on RU this past year. Cliff would rebound and offer rim protection. Mag would defend the best player on the opposition. Neither guy is a top scoring option.

    I could see Sommerville developing into a Great Esobor type player in a couple of years. He needs to play alongside another big who can rebound and defend. I don’t see him as a great fit here alongside Grant. Grant will have more upside due to his athletic ability.

    This past year was a missed opportunity for both J Will and Derkack. They were going to get the most minutes alongside Dylan and Ace in the backcourt and would have open shots with regularity. Neither improved their outside shooting, particularly from 3. It really hurt them and the team.

    His shooting limited his PT. It’s hard to play a guy at this level who shoots 36% from the floor and 25% from 3. Shot selection was also an issue.

    If Karl Hobbs stayed here, I wonder if the situation could have been salvaged with Mag. Ndongo would have probably kept his commitment as well. This year’s team had some real deficiencies inside.

    It would be interesting to see where RU would be this year if they retained Cliff and Mag. They would have fixed a lot of problems on D.

    Pike is not an idiot. He just did a bad job with roster construction. With Dylan/Ace and a good season, this program could have really jumped forward, particularly with regard to perception. It’s unfortunate what happened this year.

    I don’t understand why Pike had Sommerville taking the tap in both OTs. It was giving a possession away each time in a close game. He could have Dortch or Grant in the game to take the tap and then sub them out at the first opportunity,
