I was lucky enough to visit Normandy. There are still massive holes from Allied bombing. There's twisted rebar from the German pill boxes where they mounted their guns.

My wife and I got to see a live volcano at Arenal in Costa Rica in 1999. Seeing the lava flow at night was a memorable experience. That volcano is now dormant.
