OT: We may win the World Cup in 2026

Maybe not some random guy…but I’ve been successfully capping International Soccer for 15-20 years and understand the soccer betting market very well. The US is a huge favorite to make it out of the group (implied odds around 84%). There is pretty much no one that would see that as the...

Well, if that’s what he said, then he obviously doesn’t.

Egypt probably a bit more likely than the other two. But all three of those are manageable.

OT: We may win the World Cup in 2026

Agree to a point…but who we get in the round of 32 plays such a huge role. We play Iran/New Zealand and it would be disappointing/surprising to lose…Belgium/Germany and a win would be much tougher.

OT: We may win the World Cup in 2026

I could certainly see a scenario where we made the quarters, but the round of 16 would be my baseline for it being a decent result (depending on the round of 32 matchup). With the expanded tournament, luck/matchups will play a huge role in the knockout phase.

Not even close to accurate to think that the “goal” would be to make it out of the group, or that advancing to the knockout round would be the “ceiling”.

Still LOTS of seats on sale from FIFA for the US opener (against Paraguay). Either $1,940 or $2,735. Some entire sections are almost completely still available. Insane.

“Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby to enter gambling addiction program”

I'd bet against...they can make a smokescreen around everything else, but betting on games of your own team is unforgivable.

I've definitely arb'd some Turkish basketball games at some point in my life (and many of those Euro leagues that would be slow to move at certain books back in the day). Never found an edge in the Nathan's Hot Dog contest though.

From what they're saying, the hotel demand isn't even that high...don't see this being like The Masters where someone wants to come and rent your house for a week. It's fans coming in for a game, then moving around to another city, or heading home. I'm surprised at how many of my big soccer...

The 26 man squad will be announced live on Fox next Tuesday (5/26) at 3pm. Biggest thing I'm watching is if Noahkai Banks makes his decision on where his national team future lands...if he picks us, I'd think he's a lock for the squad.

Hitting the point where I cringe every day one of our guys is playing due to potential for injuries knocking them out. Johnny Cardoso is already out (who knows if he would have made the 26 man squad based on past rosters, but he's playing so well at a top club that it would have been tough to...

2026 World Cup - General Discussion & Non-USA teams thread

Used to be 32 teams in 8 groups and top 2 from each group advanced to the Round of 16. Now 48 teams into 12 groups...top 2 in each group advance, and 8 of the 12 3rd place teams also advance...and knockout starts at Round of 32 now instead of 16.

I recommend the 5 part series that HBO is running about the lead up for the USMNT. First episode came out last week and was solid. Episode 2 is tomorrow. https://nypost.com/2026/05/12/sports/how-to-watch-usmnt-docuseries-us-against-the-world-release-date-time/
