My understanding is that it was a timing issue. When the original districts proposal was passed it was set to begin nearly the following year after passage. This current playoff expansion was purposely submitted to take effect with a much shorter window aka much less time (smart) before taking...
I just can't see that ever happening here to be honest. Winning as many games as possible including state titles have more value to the coaches than anything else.
They will basically lose a year of eligibility...the one aspect I don't like about it is when it comes to injury. Eliminating the injury review process and making those kids lose a year is something I'm sure will get challenged
