OT: New Press Box at the Field of Dreams to be named after Gary Dolphin

Good for him. I've never been a fan of his work, and I don't know of any connection between Dolphin and baseball or Dyersville or anything, but nobody asked me about naming the press box. So again, good for him.

    22 logo on the court

Ben took an undersized team of mostly mid-major players to within a few minutes of the Final Four. Along the way he beat the defending national champions and #1 seeded Florida Gators in a virtual home game for them. Ben didn't come to Iowa City to tread water or make excuses. He came to win Big...

    Laya Hays year 2

If it were only about coaching, everyone would be an All-American. It's like when a baseball player is in a hitting slump. There's a little more to it than simply "coaching him up." If only it were that easy . . . I thought Hays looked good early, then hit a wall and never progressed, which...

Iowa purchases basketball court used for 2026 NCAA Houston Regional Elite Eight

Nope. A yellow court with a yellow border . . . not exactly Design 101. The black border is the only sensible way to go, IMHO, of course.

OT: Hawk Baseball finishes strong in Des Moines; I went to Thursday's game and it was great; Alivo can sling it

The attendance was pretty good with over 2,000 on Thursday night, about 3,000 on Friday and over 4,000 on Saturday.

If a 24-Team CFP had existed from the very beginning (2014)

Every other division of college football would disagree: FCS, with 128 teams, has 24 teams in its playoffs. Division two has a 32-team playoff. Division three has 40 teams in the playoffs. That's about 18-20 percent of teams in each of those divisions. Major college football has 138 teams, so 24...

If a 24-Team CFP had existed from the very beginning (2014)

It needs to be 24 teams, period. That would put D1 in the same ball park with every other division of college football in terms of the percentage of teams who make the football playoffs. In 1980 there were 15 major bowls, 30 teams. Last year there were 41 bowls, 82 teams. So if there are still...

CHA replacing the Iowa court with the E8 court from Houston regional.

The university has announced that the new court WILL include the CC 22 logo, as it obviously should.

Video: IA FBall All-Access.. E2 added

I like your observations, and I continue to believe that RZV and Dayton Howard are two fantastic receivers who are under the radar because they haven't had anyone who's been able to get them the ball consistently. They both have great hands and excellent size, and combined with Diaz, they should...

    Ella Stromdahl to be interviewed?

Yes, I would think English language proficiency would be required before being admitted to the University of Iowa.

    *****Bria Medina commits****

Not many teams have 10 players in the rotation. In the NIL world it's tougher than ever to keep 14 or 15 players happy. Smaller rosters may be the way to go for most teams in the foreseeable future.

I keep looking at this forum hoping to see Tavion Banks is coming back.

Exactly. Playing at a JC is playing at a JC. How can you give additional eligibility to some and not others? On what possible grounds? Either JC counts or it doesn't. Maybe Banks and others in his situation should just come back and play and dare the NCAA to stop them. Precedent, such as...

    *****Bria Medina commits****

It's being reported that she has ONE year of eligibility remaining, so I hope she has a great career too, but it will only be one season long in Iowa City.

Major Dirt coming out on Fran & Margaret (who was heckling from the crowd) related to a Coaches vs Cancer event

Pretty much any basketball coach in the country would have been an upgrade over Lickliter, so I don't think Fran deserves much credit for "bringing the program back." And given this info, it makes Barta look even worse, if that's possible. How the hell people like Barta and Fran keep their jobs...

Iowa hires former Iowa QB and Colt's OC Tom Moore as Senior Consultant to the Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator

Pass? No, he ran the ball. BTW: Grassley is 92 and the current poster boy for term limits.
