MSU's OOS tuition is significantly less than peer universities (Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Arkansas, etc). Auburn and Clemson might be selective with admission, but Alabama and Arkansas are not. Further, MSU's in state tuition is cheaper than regional universities in Alabama.
That is merit based, not just a blanket waiver of OOS for alumni.... What is state's merit based scholarship to compare apples to apples. So, if as described earlier in the thread, you get $5k knocked off for just being the child of an alum, what else do you get based on merit? I bet it gets...
