    That’s fine, reasonable people can agree to disagree. I don’t think he’s a better option than Chesney, and if we’re hiring assistant coaches, he’s not a better option than a lot of guys out there. If he were not a psu assistant coach and alum, he wouldn’t be in the top 10,000 candidates.

    Smith’s hire would reflect super short term thinking IMO. I’ll support anyone not named Matt Rhule but I don’t believe he’s the best the program can do. Nor has he shown anything performance-wise to convince anyone who has a clue that he is the best option.

    I never saw Franklin taking recruits as bad. Preferred it not to happen but is what is it is. All in the game.

    People wanted to fire Franklin in Year 12 because he couldn’t win those games. Of course there’s a different set of standards for a guy in year 1, even years 2-3, even for the most high profile home run hires.
