    um..... what????

I think that is just using rough general estimates; I was looking at the CDS reports for each school which they put out. I was using the combined SAT and ACT submissions for each school (basically how many did not apply test optional). As for the GPAs, that would depend greatly on what scale...

    um..... what????

PSU's range is 1280 - 1410 It's definitely a good bit weaker than both UM and UMD but not as bad as you are indicating. I think an interesting thing to look at is what happens with Ohio State with the next data set - they started requiring SAT/ACT this past admission year. Their scores were...

    um..... what????

From just a quick look at their respected CDS reports, 73% of UM enrolled students submitted SAT/ACT compared to only 44% of UMD enrolled students. The fewer number of students who submit SAT/ACT, the more inflated the scores will be for those who do submit. I see that UM says that SAT/ACT...

    um..... what????

Schreyer Honors College is generally considered one of the top honors programs in the country and is highly competative to get into. The biggest downside is that they only give $5000 a year in scholarships for getting in. And while there are also some college/department based on scholarships...

    um..... what????

Michigan is still test optional (just like PSU) and I fully believe that it's just an abyssmal policy because grade inflation makes high school transcripts practivcally worthless. SAT/ACT are far from perfect but at least provide a context that is objective and can be easily compared between...

    um..... what????

Don't worry. 90% of the kids will still graduate from high school anyway. That to me has been the bizarre thing - we do these standardized testing that shows students do not meet the proficiency standards for their grade... and then they still go onto the next grade and go on to graduate...

    Did student tickets sell out?

Maryland does something like that (all their sports tickets are free for students, albeit with mandatory student fees covering the costs) so you might be thinking of that.

    Did student tickets sell out?

If they have to use a lottery - I think that's a bad idea and they should return to first come/first serve online - I would like to see it be a weighted lottery. You get some sort of loyalty points by attending sporting events of all kinds. So students who attend more sporting events should...

Revive old question. With USC/ND rivalry returning

I just want us to schedule a Power team, anyone really. First, it is terrible that we are not playing a power team non-conference this year (or last year). And it's utterly ridiculous that we have no one scheduled for 2029 or beyond. I know there are many things to do, but filling out the...

    Pitt B10 Talk Again.

Either Duke or UVA could be a complimentary addition (i.e. the second team you take along with the one you want in order to keep the conference at an even number of teams). Georgia Tech would also be in the running for that status. None of them would be a team you expand in order to get on...

    Pitt B10 Talk Again.

Pitt has all of the downsides of UMD without any of the upside. If Pitt were otherwise the same school, but were located in (say) Charlotte, NC then yes they might be a decent consideration for the Big Ten. I would still doubt it but they would at least be in the conversation if the Big Ten...

    Early season game times

prior to this current TV deal, the Big Ten (and that conference alone) had a stipulation that all Homecoming games would have their kickoff time set in advance. With this new deal, there was apparently more flexibility built in for the TV networks so while some time could get set in advance...
