    Rosman@ Brevard

I think Brevard looked about like what I expected after the graduations from last year. They are in much better shape physically than in years past. The defense was better than I anticipated. The offense will need a bit more time to gel with a new quarterback and receivers.

    North Rowan @ Brevard

North Rowan's defense was impressive. 32 for them was a force that night.

    Pisgah @ Brevard

That was a fun game....even with all of the penalties.

    Brevard @ North Henderson updates

They looked sharp tonight- looking forward to the challenge next week.

    Brevard @ Smoky Mountain

Sounding good so far- just need to capitalize on all of the chances.

Great comeback win for the Devil's!

It was a painful ending to the game.

    Rosman at Brevard

Consistent effort in the weight room and time are what the Devils need to get back on track. It will take a few seasons to gain back all that has been lost in that regard. There are much fewer exceptional athletes to choose from-the ones playing will have to grow together.

Jason Lippard NEW NE Guilford Coach!

Good luck to him in the new role, but defense was an after thought at Brevard and decisions on special teams...when to go for two, when to kick, how to use timeouts...not a strong suit by any means.

Amen to that. A return of some basic fundamentals like practicing and tackling will be welcome as well.

I certainly believe that based on what we saw on the field-poor fundamentals at best.

It appeared at times too, that tackling had not been practiced enough.

That mentality was there long before Essenburg came along-he didn't create that atmosphere-he continued what was already in place from his days as an assistant
