Helmet guards work great, unless it rains hard and there is lots of helicopters on the roof and in the valleys. As long as the top slopes slightly forward, it should keep them out, but they seem to find a way no matter what!
The damn helicopters find a way in there somehow, screens suck when you need to get under them. might be easier maintenance to put a downspout guard in and clean it off every month or so.
