    Last portion about NBA teams being “swamped” isn’t true. The freaking Clippers sold for 2.5 billion. And they just made their first ever conference final. As I asked in a previous thread on this subject, if amateur status was so important to viewership, why isn’t the Ivy League the highest rated?

    So much wrong in this thread. No school pays students a pell grant, you only qualify if your parents don’t make a certain amount. NIL isn’t the school paying them anything, so why would kids receiving off court money take anything from nonrevenue producing sports. And the worrying about NIL...

    This kid dad played in pros. His mom is an executive at Coca Cola. They didn’t have to pay for him. Cal didn’t recruit him very heavily early, and Pearl and staff was on his father early. Pearl has paid players at Auburn, but it was early in his tenure. Has cache to not have to do it anymore.
