They don’t sign an NLI (like high school recruits) which is binding for a year (except in certain circumstances). They sign financial aid agreement papers, which are not binding for the player.
I remember a stretch of years (6-7) back in the 90’s where the teams alternated victories. The funny thing is, it was the “visitors” that won each year during that stretch.
