I lost timber in a tornado several years ago. Your tax relief is only the cost of the timber, not the value. It is not good. The problem about cutting is that the during the storm, the timber was damaged twisted and cracked, rendering parts of it unusable. Your best bet is to get multiple quotes and salvage what you can before it dies.
