I've never said Holder wasnt a SP in HS. In all my talks with his HS coach whom I know fairly well, he always talked of Gentry on the mound and Holder as a hitter. And you obviously arent watching Holder pitch now- because he isnt throwing 3 pitches for strikes and why he has an ERA of 3.50
I didnt expect us to be any better than 5-4 in the SEC at this point with the schedule we were facing. Considering our top 2 SP's arent even starting for us, Rea has been injured over half the season, and now Slaughter has been down- we are only 2 games behind that.
We have to figure something...
If history is a good indicator of future performance- Cohen's teams normally perform much better in the 2nd half of the SEC schedule. You guys have counted him out the last 2 years, only to look stupid by SEC Tourney time
I'm frustrated also, but we're only 2 games short of where I thought we'd...
exactly
A case in point- Roger Clemens and Calvin Schiraldi
Teammates at Texas that led them to the 1983 NC. Schiraldi was named the CWS outstanding player. Some people even thought Schiraldi had more talent than Clemens- but Clemens was drafted 19th in 83- Schiraldi was drafted 27th. Both...
why?
He came to State as a 1st baseman who might pitch
He was the #2 for Gulfport behind Gentry in HS
He starts and you are likely to get the same result we just got from Bracewell
What we need is the ******* guys we signed to be SP's like Evan Mitchell and Brandon Woodruff to do their job...
ok...I tried not to, but I cant resist. Who would you suggest we bring in after firing Cohen after he makes his 3rd NCAA in a row and no telling how deep he goes?
I'm hoping for 4 IP out of Bracewell. You dont over-extend someone who hasnt started in quite a long time. We should be able to get 7 out of Bracewell/R. Mitchell- then turn it over to Holder.
Screw Tuesday- we need SEC wins. At some point-the albatrosses of our staff have to log some innings...
As I've posted before- the rumor is we called, he said he was interested and would interview, then called back an hour later and said no thanks.
Had Stansbury left for Clemson- we would have had a shot then. As a dumpster fire? No way
because he knew Lindy wasnt going to be able to go- and he already made the decision to start Bracewell in his place. It makes perfect sense- and somebody else had to step into Bracewell's relief role
