Five players John Calipari might’ve called at midnight

I'm confused with one comment when I followed that link. How does signing Shaq's kid bring Kobe Bryant close to the UK program? Shaq blowing kisses to him at the final game notwithstanding, those guys hated each other for years. Not sure I follow that line of reasoning.

Which team is our biggest rival and why?

I'd say your answer as to who the biggest rival depends entirely on where you live. For some folks that's IU, for many UofL, down on the southern border it would be Tennessee. I'm sure there's about a 3-4 county stretch out east where you'll get a good argument for West Virginia.

    Modern Era's Best Teams

1987 is the start of your modern era. Shot clock was in its second year, three-point line was in its first year, and we were just starting to see the trend of players leaving for the pros with remaining college eligibility left on the table (Olajuwon, Jordan, Barkley, Tisdale had recently...

    Romeo Langford

Not a UofL fan, but good guess.

    Byron Scott fired by Lakers

How'd that "Laker DNA" work out with Byron Scott as the coach? Or Magic Johnson for that matter? Or Matt Doherty going back home to North Carolina? Prior ties to a program is no guarantee of success.

And if his goal is not to be in the NBA after one year?

    Romeo Langford

Well, he's not an idiot. And he's considering Louisville, along with the others that have been involved in his recruitment. He won't make any decision anytime soon, that's all you need to take to the bank. Between talk of Cal to the NBA, Coach K's age three years from now when the kid would...

    Romeo Langford

Exactly what evidence do you have that he doesn't have any real interest in Louisville? As someone who lives in his hometown, has been to about 25 of his games the past two seasons and friends with all of his coaches, I've heard absolutely nothing remotely like what you're saying. Kid/family...

    Romeo Langford offered by Kansas

So virtually everyone that could possibly fall in the "blue blood" mix now has scholarship offers to him as a sophomore with the exception of North Carolina, and I'd be shocked if that didn't happen this week as well. Can anyone come up with a list of 10th graders that had offers from UK, Duke...

    Romeo Langford offered by Kansas

As a freshman, yes. As a sophomore, yes. Remains to be seen what he turns out to be as a senior. Oden's 18 blocked shots in a state tournament game his junior year (2004-05) against the #1 rated team in Indiana was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in high school athletics. Oden...

    Romeo Langford offered by Kansas

At the same age, yes, although completely different positions. Oden as a 10th grader averaged 14.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks for a 29-2 state championship team. Langford as a 10th grader put up 30.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks as a natural shooting guard. This is a state...

Kobe - Unbelievable . Just Amazing.

22-50 isn't bad? 44% (which is basically his career percentage) is nothing terribly impressive. Scoring guards should be better than that. Curry, 48% for his career. Jerry West, 48%. Jordan, 50%. Wade 49%, Drexler 47%, Gervin 50%, Reggie Miller 47%. Curry shot 63% overall last night and...

Since 1986 Duke Had Nation's Best/Most Talented Team 8 Times...Won Title Twice Those Years

If by "barely won the title" you mean "beat Michigan by 20 points in the championship game" then yes. Now, probably shouldn't have beaten UK in the Elite 8 or IU in the Final 4 to even be in the title game, but they took the Fab Five back behind the woodshed something fierce in that 2nd half.

    UCONN Women

    1. Women have 15 scholarships compared to 13 for men. Once the men had their numbers reduced, that took 50 players off of Top 25 teams and filtered them to mid-major programs. It's no coincidence that we've seen the rise of programs like Butler, Gonzaga, Wichita State, VCU, etc. as consistent...
