I get it and appreciate it, actually.
7A is uncharted territory for DCP. The 1980 Gordon Tech state championship team won the 6A. So it will be an interesting challenge. And we welcome it.
As I stated before, DCP doesn't shy away from competition and will compete within all rules established.
Many other programs go up in arms when their generational comfort zone gets rattled.
So we all move on to next season and enjoy the game we all love.
I would not go so far as to label it grossly misplaced. Factors were natural. At the time IHSA could not have predicted DCP enrollment growth. Granted, our situation was unique. But that was a good thing. A growing and thriving school. Doing all the right things to offer a great HS experience to...
7A is where the Rams will find a natural position to compete. 3 classes up is fair enough. 8A will feel like making an example of IHSA'a new rule adjustments.
IHSA is in full assault mode on the CCL. If DePaul Prep has to jump, at least 2 to 3 classes because of all the adjustments. Is the criteria actually even for competitiveness sake? Or just to satisfy the lower half of the state programs that had their ego bruised last season?
