    Ryan Kucherak transferring

It’d be helpful to have a definitive understanding of the scholarship and NIL numbers allotted to the baseball program. I know it’s been stated that we’re way below our Big 10 peers but does anybody know the actual numbers? If we’re indeed funding a much smaller percentage than most or all of...

    Jack Lausch!

I don’t understand funding a program that has no chance to compete. I guess the donors are fine simply keeping the program alive and not worried about winning. Do we have other programs that are operating at such a scholarship deficit compared to their competition?

    Jack Lausch!

That is a crazy fact. If we’re only funding 30-50% of the number of scholarships as the rest of major college baseball, then I fully agree that we should either fully fund the program or end it. It is futile and pointless to keep the program as is.

What happened this year? We had some positive momentum from last year and returned most of the better players but took a major step back and finished at the bottom of the Big 10. With the Big 10 now much better in baseball because of the addition of the four former Pac 10 schools, will we ever...

Is it fair to say that blowing a 9-0 lead to Michigan and losing that one game put them in the tournament and kept NU out?

    Arkansas eliminates Men’s & Women’s Tennis

Is a donation to a college athletic program considered revenue or a different category? I find it very hard to believe that Arkansas men's AND women's tennis only brought in about $3,000 in annual revenue including donations. That feels impossible. You'd think that donations purely from...

If everyone knew that Oregon had a flight deadline, why did they not start the game an hour or two earlier to have a cushion and avoid this outcome?

On the non-call at the end last night

That definitely was not intentional. If you want to foul up 3, you do it well before the opponent is going up for the shot. I think it’s just one of those times when Gelo’s competitive instincts and desire to challenge the shot overrode his brain. I’m guessing Collins told them to smartly...

On the non-call at the end last night

Glad we got away with it and a big teaching moment because what was Gelo thinking?! Just an inexplicable decision to reach in at that moment. Just keep your arms up and don’t come anywhere close to making contact.

    Grapplers

Returning to the original post in the thread, what happened to wrestling and is it fixable? The wrestling program has typically been a solid to good program but has significantly declined the past three seasons and is now firmly at the bottom of the Big 10. I assume that NIL is not a huge factor...

    Next Year's Here

I’m hoping Gelo can improve his handle and shot to be more of a threat in the halfcourt offense. He is an elite athlete and could have a strong midrange game with a one or two-dribble pull-up jumper. Right now that is not part of his game and it feels like 90+% of his points are from dunks and...

    Grapplers

The team finished 6th in the country in 2022 but it’s been a quick and far fall since then. I know we have had some of our best wrestlers transfer out in recent years, so is that mostly because of NIL or other reasons? And we haven’t been able to bring in top recruits or transfers to replace...

Collins seat should be HOT going into next year

Agreed. I think Page can be most successful as a big 4 rather than a 5.

MAYBE only Martinelli is blameless in this trainwreck

That is very interesting. I wonder if we are dead last in aggregate “luck” by a comfortable margin over the past 10 years. We were in the bottom 10% seven times and bottom 5% four times!! That is being so incredibly bad so often in close games. That is a large enough sample size to attribute...

MAYBE only Martinelli is blameless in this trainwreck

Between expired eligibility and transfers out, I can’t imagine we’ll return many players next season. We only have two incoming freshmen (one of whom just tore his ACL), so Collins is going to have to hit the portal hard to build a roster. The hopeful news is that so many programs have shown...
