How long until the "Barnhart was forced to hire Pope" cries begin?

You’re implying Stoops is the problem with NIL. From what I understand, Stoops is the reason we have as much as we do. Apparently Stoops is very good friends with the football donors and has cultivated those relationships or we would be in much worse shape.

Jay Williams sends message to Kentucky fans over Cooper Flagg

I don't like it but it's not crazy. ESPN and other networks want viewership and advertising. They promote certain players and narratives to try and create interest in the games. They are selling stuff just like the shoe companies are. It's just a different product.

    Thank you Mitch Barnhart!!!

Every AD makes bad hires. Everyone who hires people for a living makes bad hires. It's the nature of the beast. And lets not forget that many people on this board were excited about Joker taking over for Brooks. I actually read comments that said Brooks has peaked, it's time to see what Joker...

Scott Drew talks Mark Pope and Kentucky

Grooming is an entirely different thing than having met the coach and him being high on your list if you need to hire someone. Grooming implies regular contact and mentoring. I don't think any of that took place or would be welcome by Baylor's AD. Mitch met Drew at the tournament a few years ago...

Scott Drew talks Mark Pope and Kentucky

Not that it matters at this point, but just curious how Mitch was "grooming" another schools coach for years to take over our program.

Travis Branham has removed his crystal ball predicting DJ Wagner to Arkansas

I've got to side with Catsfanbgky on this one. How well he played is not the same thing as having a poor work ethic, being lazy, or being entitled. They are not the same thing at all.

    Should they be

    Good information.

    Should they be

The length of the agreement is not relevant. It's the fact that a NIL contract can't include language that ties a player to a school. No one is forcing NIL agreements to be one year agreements. One year agreements are the norm because you can't use it to tie a player to a school. If you offer a...

    Should they be

Right. It's just not in the contract. I assume that those contracts aren't actually signed until the kid is enrolled, taking classes, and almost assuredly going to play for the school. It's certainly pay for play, but the contract can't reflect that because it's illegal. A two agreement that...

    Should they be

Because if you allow NIL agreements to tie players to schools what is to stop boosters from contacting players directly and recruiting them? The point of the rule is to keep separation between boosters and schools.

    Should they be

Supposedly you would sign the NIL agreement until you were sure he was enrolled and intended to play at your school. If someone was dumb enough to sign a NIL agreement prior to the kid enrolling at a school, then yes. I don't think those a re signed until it's obvious the kid is going to the school.

    Should they be

I think they will too. The difference in your example and a 1 year contract is the one year contract doesn't tie the player to the school. You could have a two year contract that also doesn't tie the player to the school.

    Should they be

I thought you asked if NIL contracts could tie a player to a school? Under current rules they cannot. I think the rules will ultimately change to something different. What that might look like I don't know. I will throw this out as well. Do we really want boosters directly recruiting and...

    Should they be

It doesn't matter why he is being given whatever money he is given. What matters is what the contract requires. The contract will not require him to attend any school.
