    OSU wrestlers who should have been OW at the NCAA

    I was in North Carolina when Pat won his 4th title. The team was great and I am not even sure he had the best tourney of the team as Mark Branch and Alan Fried won titles as well. Pat wrestled a little tighter than usual as he had more to lose, but he won anyway to become the first 4 time champ.

    I think both are a factor. There seems to be more falls in the consolation rounds than championship brackets.

    It makes sense that the wrestler that wins 3rd would have more falls. Consolation wrestlers have lots of injuries and they will go aggressive and get thrown to their backs.

    Jerry Kelly was a big miss for me. I was thinking champions and do not think he ever got to the top of podium.

    I could only think of Joe James, but he was not really a pinner. Whomever the Heavyweight was might not have been a champ. Mitch Shelton had a lot of falls. If you were on your back you were pinned.

    Thinking through a heavyweight that pinned was Wyatt Hendrickson. I think he pinned his way through the quarter finals with two of the falls in first period. That seems to fit the bill. that is not going to work as it was unlimited. I have no idea if McCready was a pinner or not, but he won...

    This is freestyle and Ross does not have experience and apparently no defense against a leg lace. If he can bulk up a little he will be an awesome college wrestler.

    Ross appears to have a fairly large frame. Maybe that will allow him to get much stronger.
