Ihsa waives game requirements for CPS

The only reason I ask is that I know for a fact that there are already thoughts from CPS schools affected of trying to figure out if the strike gets resolved on Wednesday and they are not in school, can they still practice (what if it’s for 15 minutes after the strike is resolved at 11pm)?

Ihsa waives game requirements for CPS

So here’s the next question. Do CPS schools have to be in school on Wednesday to be able to practice?

Ihsa waives game requirements for CPS

I don’t think this can happen. When Simeon appealed to the IHSA last week they also file a motion in court. Both the IHSA and the judge I believe indicated that the 3 day practice rule would not be overturned due to player safety.

Ihsa waives game requirements for CPS

I’m sorry but I’ve seen several statements saying athletic scholarships are impacted, and this is just not true. If a players season is lost an athletic scholarship might be impacted, it in particular in football no college coach is not going to offer a scholarship to a talented player because...

    Playoff bye week

This is ridiculous. Like many I like playing around to see where my kids HS may play, so I look particularly at 6A. What I’m seeing is a very distinct possibility that Simeon will play Kenwood in the 8-9 game in the 1st round in the North 6A. So if the strike isn’t resolved for 1st round...

will forfeits be treated as hosting a game?

Just my thought, but give CPS until 3pm on Monday to settle strike. Publish two different brackets tomorrow, one if settled, one if not. Knowing who you are playing by 3pm on Monday shouldn’t be much of a disadvantage, and gives those teams who would get in a chance to practice. It’s just...

will forfeits be treated as hosting a game?

If that’s the case, then following that logic any tram seeded 9-16 that gets a game against a CPS team in the first round and wins by forfeit could theoretically then play their next 3 games at home (assuming the next 3 opponents had yet to play a road game). I know it won’t happen, but the...

What's the cutoff for CPS strike

CPS has cancelled school for Thursday, so the 3 days of practice after 7 days of no practice just kicked in unless CPS gets some sort of waiver from IHSA. Without waiver, no CPS games this weekend. Going to get interesting.

Strike Offically Continues Wednesday. Simeon Ineligible.

The rule states if you don’t practice for 7 days, you must have 3 days of practice before you play a game. I’m assuming the thought is that they played last Wednesday, so their last practice was last Tuesday. Tomorrow would be the 7th day (don’t count Sunday / W, Th, Fr, Sat, M, Tu, and...

What's the cutoff for CPS strike

And very likely whoever that team is that gets in at Simeon’s misfortune is going to have their own attorney involved with the argument if you are not going to enforce the rules, what the point? This is going to be a monumental mess.

What's the cutoff for CPS strike

Can you imagine if they would come out with a “if the strike ends in time” and “if it doesn’t” schedule”. Should would make it clear, and ensure that if the strike doesn’t end some teams that would not have made the playoffs get a chance.

What's the cutoff for CPS strike

So if the Simeon - Curie game doesn’t happen, Curie gets none of the point from Simeon even though they were on the schedule?

What's the cutoff for CPS strike

So I’m trying to get a read on the Simeon situation. IHSA policy says that if football practices have been terminated for a period of 7 days, a team must have 3 days of practice before they can play again. If Simeon’s last practice date was last Tuesday (since they played a game on Wednesday)...

What age did you let your kids start playing football?

I have two sons who play/played football. One is a to be senior and one plays major college football. Both played/play multiple sports. These are my thoughts. Both started playing tackle football in the 2nd grade, loved it those first couple of years, and had great experiences. Also, no...

Changes to player individual playing limit rule?

At least in our conference we play FR games Friday night before the Varsity games. Works well. JV games on Saturday, but I am guessing that will change since this idiotic rule makes that impossible. Kids who were not starters but got some reps on Friday night mainly on special teams now have...
