I didn’t say they were ranked “way to high” and I don’t think it’s crazy to rank Montini ahead of Fenwick. Montini went 14-0, had quality wins and was efficient against inferior opponents. I just think the quality of the wins down the stretch should’ve propelled Fenwick ahead.
Both Thies brothers play both ways as RB/DB. In the 6A championship game alone Jake Thies had:
18 tackles
41 yard INT
100 yards rushing (9 carries)
61 yards receiving (3 receptions)
2 TDs
An incredible performance and he’s been doing this all year. Many worthy candidates; I just thought I’d...
I understand Montini beat Fenwick in the head to head but that game came down to a failed 2 point conversion back in September. Feels like Fenwick knocking off Nazareth and ESL was a much harder playoff task that should’ve put them in front.
5 yard Rushing TD after muffed punt.
33 yard Passing TD after INT.
5 yard Rushing TD after INT.
Fenwick’s defense forced turnovers and capitalized on them. A heraclean effort.
Just realized Fenwick had 4 one play TD drives.
Only once did Fenwick put together a long clocking eating TD drive together and that was the first drive in the 3rd quarter. Fenwick ran 35 offensive plays to ESL 76 and was dominated in the time of possession.
ESL botched a punt on their own 5 yard line, A bunch of turnover on downs deep in Fenwick territory, and some very lucky INTs kept Fenwick ahead points wise. Fenwick offense was paralyzed for most of the first half by ESL D but found answers as time went on.
Pretty sure all Naz/Fenwick fans were thinking the same thing last week. “Wow what a great game too bad the winner is getting running clocked next week by ESL.”
