I don’t think it means anything, but he isn’t irreplaceable if he leaves. Love him, and hope he comes back but it isn’t a big deal. Much bigger issues at hand.
He just doesn’t seem to have the years in the tank that this position requires. St. John’s is a perfect place for him. Some of the guys mentioned on this thread who coached into their 80’s were long term coaches at their respective colleges and it was a different landscape in college sports.
Pope isn't it. He's just not and anyone with a brain would have known he wasn't a good hire when they made it.
I don't think the new AD is going to come in and fire Pope on Day 1, so we are stuck with this lemon of a staff for another year.
