If a former player is scared of tweeting go hawks because it might hurt the feelings of their coach, that's hilarious and exclusively an Iowa problem. The school is bigger than any player or coach.
The defensive strategy on Citron was awful, she had like 10 layups lol. If they just backed off that girl a bit and forced jumpshots, they win that game easily. They also refused to foul their bigs when faced with a choice of giving up an easy lay or free throws.
You can't fault him for grabbing that bag. We would all do the same. He is etched in hawkeye lore like the rest of that team. But it's also true that he scored 0 points on the road vs Maryland and Minnesota. Besides having shaky handles and a lanky build, his biggest flaws are he does not like...
Yep, that Mara kid killed us down the stretch with a lucky bank jumper and then an alley lay in while falling over. He's done similar things against Arizona in the first half so I dunno if it's luck anymore.
This is crazy ex stuff. Connor out there slashing tires for his dad after Iowa broke up with him for not playing defense in 15 years. I honestly think he dated Caitlyn as a hedge in case his dad got fired so he could take her away from Iowa fans as revenge.
Although Alvaro was not consistent and put up 0fers many games this year, his shots in the Florida and Nebraska games flipped those games. It's true that someone else may have helped us win those games by more and gotten past Illinois, but it's hard to be sure of that.
If we're going to play devil's advocate:
-Stirtz is probably the best PG talent in school history. Yet Iowa had several bad losses, only got a 9 seed, and was one clutch Alvaro shot from equaling a common Fran result. Now Stirtz is gone.
-Hausen was brought in and was rarely used, showing that...
Illinois is basically exploiting an oversight on the part of NCAA when it introduced NIL. It was harder to get these foreign players to leave home when there wasn't a big payday involved, now they can fill out a whole roster with them. Clever but also extremely effed and reduces opportunities...
There were only 10 seconds left, they didn't even need to cross halfcourt, just dribble and pass it backwards. The guy who made the pass before the deflected pass never moved, if he moves baseline it's an easy passback and pass ahead.
