Starter vs Reliever Debate w Coach Forbes

Looking at Coach Forbes history in building a staff. He wants to use his best reliever number 1 out of the pen if the game is tight, typically around the 5th or 6th. 4 out of 5 times, the reliever will come in and give you 2 innings to make your move offensively and take over the game (go up 4...

    Game 19 - Carolina 8 California 1

Have we ever played Cal before? If I am not mistaken, Hall of Famer Jeff Kent is an alumni. And they announced the were cutting the baseball program a few years back (2018?).

    Hull

I think it is way too early to paint him as a failure, and he doesn't look lost or over powered at the plate, just not impacting the ball right now. I mentioned on another thread I expect a 2023 Casey Cook style season from him as he adjusts to the higher quality pitching at this level, backside...

    McDuffie

Great analysis, seeing the same thing. When you rotate around the slider, you loose the late life (now calculated in higher RPMs). Keeping front side closed and extending out a bit more will tighten it up. I think we also had very high expectations of McDuffie coming into this year, will need...

    Game 10 - UNC 13 VCU 3

Hull swing is different than I thought it would be with the numbers he put up last year, don't see him being a big HR guy for us this year, does not seem to get great extension or leverage at his height. Thinking a 2023 Casey Cook type season, hopefully can steal some bags. Think he will be...

    Game 10 - UNC 13 VCU 3

EP Power! Reminds me of Stokley, but the lift on the swing is natural. Hands seem to be good enough that he will be fine when we get to conference level arms.

    Game 10 - UNC 13 VCU 3

I would rather see this heading back to a weekend series then a thumbing low end arm that our guys timing is off against.

    Game 5 - Carolina 5 Longwood 3

I think Flannery has looked pretty good. Slider is consistent, fastball has a little late life, pitching around the edges. Looks like he is also throwing a 2 seam with some late movement.

    Game 5 - Carolina 5 Longwood 3

Ks leadoff to only allow the 1 run

    Game 5 - Carolina 5 Longwood 3

First two on in the 2nd, double steal and we throw it in to LF for a run for L'Wood. Flannery fans the next two batters with runner on 3rd.

Really like the balance of our right handed hitters from what I have seen. No one has over exaggerated loads (Gallagher probably the most moving parts). May not produce a lot of power from that side of the plate, but should be a high contact, deep count team vs. any pitching type.

Game 4 - Richmond at Carolina

Couple tough defensive plays we need to get at least an out from. See if KP can pitch out of it

Game 4 - Richmond at Carolina

Love the early offense. Chance to let Percival attack, and hopefully see a few young arms.

Game 4 - Richmond at Carolina

Maginnis with another solid play going back on a ball to the track to end the 2nd. Was worried about his defense being a 3B/LF recruit from Ga State, but has looked solid through 3+ games so far.

Game 4 - Richmond at Carolina

Couple of reasons it could be Percival over Seagraves and Johnson: 1: Coming off season ending injury, get Percival in controlled/prepared settings (warmup etc.) first few times out before going to the pen as our main lefty (projected role last year, need a shutdown lefty pen arm) 2: OJ and...
