Mason Williams (the guy some of you said will not play)

No reason to be negative about this kid. I’m excited he wants to be here and look forward to seeing what he brings. His dad was a player.

Jack Givens was on Tom Leach this morning....

I happen to know he’s a highly successful guy. Probably won’t toot his own horn. And I can’t disagree with anything he’s saying strictly from what we’ve observed with Pope’s coaching to date. However, I choose to be more optimistic. Just because that’s my choice, and I’d rather go into the...

Trivia: (level moderate) only P5 school UK has never played in basketball?

We beat Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 1985. Kenny Walker vs. Detlef Schrempf.

ANONYMOUS POLL: How Confident Are You That Pope Is Going To Crush It

Voted pretty doubtful. See about a 4/10 chance. Has shown he can win big games, but also have his team come in totally unprepared and get blown out multiple times. Right mix of players, lightning in a bottle maybe makes 1 FF run? Maybe.

Whatever we are paying Mo Williams...double it...like right now.

We seem to have more juice with Mo. I think we should be a little wait and see with Hampton. He’s the exception so far with high school recruiting and Pope. Should be fair and it least consider why that may be. Acaden Lewis was a good get also. Hopefully the uptick continues.

    2026 Class Not Done?

I like Kam quite a bit. Did you know we were 8-1 last year when he played 20 or more minutes? Home meltdown vs. Missouri was the only loss. I see him as a Darius Miller type.

    HAMPTON to UK

If the highest bidder on the house had to live with you for the next year, you may consider more than money. Or what if selling the house at top dollar meant you were going to lose a chance to sell your next house for top dollar? Is it worth the risk? Trying to play along with your analogy...

    Milan UK

We might have dodged a bullet missing on Wright. Some smoke.

I wonder if Nike is helping us with any money on our recruiting ?

All good. I have no doubt that the relationship got worse after Cal pulled us out of the tournament. I just think there was some other stuff going on back to 2014 at least, when Cal decided not to take the Cavs job. I think Cal got one-upper by both Duke and the LeBron faction, and pulling...

I wonder if Nike is helping us with any money on our recruiting ?

I think there’s some truth to this, but only some. The idea that Nike is unwilling to do anything for UK is unlikely, imo. But does Duke get first dibs? Not sure how you could argue otherwise. Did Cal get sideways with Phil Knight? I’ve always suspected that came before pulling out of the...

I wonder if Nike is helping us with any money on our recruiting ?

There’s a network that exists and it seems that Pope has chosen to go his own way in many respects. More comfortable being his own man, so to speak. Debatable whether or not that contributes to his challenges. Can’t fight City Hall, and all that.

    Milan to UK?

The two recruitments bear very little resemblance to one another.

I wonder if Nike is helping us with any money on our recruiting ?

I get the impression that Pope isn’t utilizing all of the resources that could be at his disposal.
