    I was standing right there next to the mat when that happened. It was at the 1970 NCAA tournament at Northwestern. Matter was ahead too but made a mistake and got caught. I’m pretty sure his opponent was from Ok State.

    FYI - I had a chance to meet him at the 2014 US Open in Las Vegas. He was a good guy and we had a nice chat. Seeing this news really saddens me. We've lost some of the really good ones in the last few years.
