Old School video: Maroons vs. UT, Sep. 1986

When Don Smith broke loose that stadium was stunned.

    Based soley on this pic...

State has been maroon and white since its first football game in 1895. Texas A&M was red and white until the 1920s, and went to maroon and white when they were sent the wrong color jerseys by accident, and decided they liked maroon more than red.

Jackson County is concerned that if this brewery opens it could lead to dancing.

OT: PSA regarding the Hunger Games...

Didn’t think it was too violent. It was entertaining, plus it had some redeeming social values for kids: Loyalty to family and friends, don’t trust the government, and how to defend yourself if you have to kill on television in a post-apocalyptic world.

OT Has MSU's campus ever been highly rated for its attractiveness?

I think the campus is outstanding and it really impresses people from other Universities when we visit. They've done a great job in campus beautification since the 80s. Allen Hall is not in the long-term plan.

    OT: Hotel Chester in Starkville

On main st, walking distance from the mug shots and the other bars. Breakfast is included in price... has good breakfast, but the breakfast is excellent at the cafe a few doors down. Hotel is older, so rooms have antique look, smaller but clean. Only complaint I have is A.C. units are loud when...

Somebody needs to give Clay Travis a lesson in history.

The University Greys (from UM) were in the 11th Miss and not under Barksdale. Barksdale's Mississippians did make the "the grandest charge that was ever made by mortal man" through the Peach Orchard on the 2nd day of Gettysburg. The University Greys were rather part of Pickett's Charge on the...

    Question about our academic recruiting

But my daughter scored a 30 on her ACT, and State by far out-recruited her more than any other school. She got accepted into every school she applied to, but no school showed more interest, and offered more in scholarships, than State. I would definitely be pro-active.

Any thoughts about being ranked 157?

It is a disguised form of affirmative action, where the universities are forced to take the top 10% of the inner city or poor performing high schools as well. Kids that go to an elite high school are actually punished if they fail to fall in the top 10% of their class, even if they have a higher...

Lots of chatter on ESPNnews about Texas and OU joining the PAC 12

I lived in Texas after graduating from State, and went to many of the Texas A&M games. They are a great addition, not only because of their athletic programs, academics, and facilities, but also their fan support and traditions. Their traditions are something to experience, and I can't wait to...
