Lots of Pro Pope Messages Today…

I think Pope cares a ton about us having real, championship level success. That should be a given but it wasn't with the last coach. That's about the only nice thing I can say. He is a nice guy. He is pretty smart. He is an above average X and O offensive coach. But he has never shown any...

    2026-27 Season

I agree, Pope's not a moron at all. He is well aware he can and likely will lose multiple guys from next years roster. I also was not trying to imply that he is going to throw this upcoming season away. Another important piece to continuity is keeping winning players with experience. Who cares...

    2026-27 Season

I don't necessarily disagree, but you don't think Lowe and Williams having multiple years of eligibility did not factor in to why we targeted them?

    Jaland Lowe

One other massively underrated aspect about Lowe that is being overlooked is that he will only be a junior next year so would likely be in our system for 2 years. Having continuity is huge when it comes to actually winning titles. We would have at least the following players eligible to play...

    Jaland Lowe

Anyone saying this is a reach is only looking at 3pt%, and/or assuming he sucks cause he played in the ACC. Here are some numbers: 31.1% assist percentage which is elite. Butler had a 27.9% assist percentage last year and that was his career high. Lowe would likely improve on that number with...

News has been really quiet on the Alvaro front

2 and 3 is interchangeable in our offense, so not sure why that matters much. Mgbako is certainly a 2/3, as is Oweh. Neither are great shooters but can fill it up offensively. Also doesn't matter as much when your 4 and 5 can shoot, which Alvaro and Yaxel can. Alvaro would be the 4 and Yaxel...

Is Jasper Johnson hiding in plain sight?

I think it is smart to take a wait and see approach on these freshman now. We were burned too many times in the past 5 years when the last guy was coaching. Johnson may end up being a stud, but he isn't a sure thing. He certainly shouldve been a McD AA, but the fact he wasn't does mean he is...

UK express interest in Tulane 6-8 guard, see him as intriguing prospect

He is the guy I like the best out of all of our portal prospects so far. Don't know why people are claiming he is a depth piece or project, I think he is easily a starter and one of our top 3 scorers next season if he comes. One limitation on our roster this year is our wings are either...

Sweet 16 who has the easiest path to the final-four?

Going to get a lot of hate for this, but easiest path for the one seeds is the following: 1. Houston 2. Auburn 3. Florida 4. Duke None are a cakewalk, but Houston has the worst 4 seed left, and then the second worst 2 seed in Tennessee (do think they are better than Michigan State).

Its not common to beat a team in the Reg season & Tourny

I don't think Lamb and Teague wanted to win more than IU wanted to win in 2012, nor do I think Fox and Monk wanted to beat UCLA more than they wanted to beat us. Regular season games that could be the case. But the stakes do not get any higher than in the NCAA tournament. You can argue some...

Its not common to beat a team in the Reg season & Tourny

We beat Louisville twice in 2014 and 2012. Also beat Kansas twice in 2012. It will be a hard game to win and we are the underdogs, but I really don't think the previous results have any impact on the outcome.

    Garrison & Terrance Jones

This thread alone is why I consider Terrence Jones one of the most underrated players we've ever had. Him and Lamb are 1A and 1B for most underrated of the Cal era. I bet most people don't even remember that he won freshman of the year over Knight.

Context for How Good Oklahoma Is

The idea that our metric numbers during Cal's first 8 years were worse than Gonzaga's have been the last 10 is simply not true. Both us and Gonzaga have had years in March where we over achieved what the computers implied, under achieved what the computers implied, and achieved pretty much...

Context for How Good Oklahoma Is

In the last 9 non-covid years Gonzaga has been to 9 sweet 16s, 5 elite 8s, and finished runner up twice. The computers were clearly right about Gonzaga and the public was wrong.
