    Good luck Artemis

Actually, his name was Artemus, but he was the first to come to my mind as well. "You ready, Artie?" "Sure, Jim."

322, Potters Mills - Boalsburg, construction plan

This stretch of road was a bottleneck back in the 1980s when I was going to school. It was just one more gauntlet to run on 322 between Harrisburg and State College. It took them 50 years to come with a possible solution that will cost $1 billion. That's PennDOT for ya.

This really is a great song

This song never fails to make me feel good, and hit the back button for another play: And this one always makes me smile - I always think of our dog, running outside or in the house: There she goes There she goes again Racing through my brain And I just can't contain This feeling that...

    RIP, "Kitten"

Never watched the show, just a bit before my time., I suppose. When kid stars of the 1960s, like Bill Mumy, Angela Cartwright, and Butch Patrick pass away, I'll know that my expiration date is getting closer. Ugh.

OT: Anyone grow their own lettuce in their house?

Back when we had our guinea pigs (the last one of our herd passed away about two weeks ago - RIP, darlin'), I tried growing lettuce using the Aerogardens for our pigs' lettuce - this was years ago. The Aerogardens require a fair amount of maintenance (they get messy) and the yield of lettuce...

OT: City makes pitch to keep Bears in Chicago | UPDATE: Bears stay in City

Gary Grizzlies Hammond Eggs I looked up Hammond, Indiana on Wikipedia, and it's right next door to...East Chicago. So why couldn't Da Bears call themselves the East Chicago Bears?

“Source: Cignetti's salary now averages $13.2M through 2033”

Probably a lot like Clemson looks right now - but they will have credibility. Winning a natty is a significant achievement. As far as Cignetti is concerned, he's earned every penny of that money.

The guy that played Will Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation went to Penn State???

Personally, I thought Frakes was a way better FO for the Enterprise than Patrick Stewart was her captain. I also read recently where Edward James Olmos "olmos" was captain of the Enterprise in ST:NG, but turned it down. I would've rather seen him as captain than Stewart. But that's just me.

    OT next stop 50,000!

The Dow (and all stocks) are over valued because of...inflation. Inflation doesn't just affect houses, cars, groceries, etc. It affects the stock market as well. The thing is, where else are you going to put your money? Most working people have 401Ks that some companies contribute to -...

    OFFICIAL ‘26 Winter Olympics Thread

NBC's coverage is horrible. First, I had read they were promising 4K, then they kinda backed off that and said 4K would only apply to prime-time coverage. Tried watching Olympics on Peacock yesterday. After a few runs in luge, a commercial - OK, I can handle that - but the commercials Peacock...

    Greatest musical artist ever

We all have our favorites. If I asked my wife, she'd probably list the Carpenters first, although Sinatra might be a close second. Me, I have so many favorites - Billy Joel, Steely Dan (let's say Donald Fagen if we need a real name, not a group name), even Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield...

    Weekend weather: February 7-8, 2026

Well, it's a bit cool today in metro Atlanta - temperature only about 50, and windy, but bright blue sunny skies. Up to mid-50s tomorrow, mid-60s by Monday, then near 70 Tuesday and Wednesday. I can tolerate that! :D

    FC/OT: WaPo shuttering sports section….

What is the point in reading a print paper anymore, anyway? The news is old when the paper reaches you, and you can get news "for free" online. Years ago, I used to buy and read the Sunday paper. One week, I bought it, and was so busy that the paper still sat on my couch, where I'd left it...
