    Positivity

The vaccine is here in VA and our older folks can get it. My mother got it this week (in her 80’s). I would guess that 95%+ of HS parents are under the age of 65. Time to open up schools and sports. Now that’s positive!

VHSL gives good ahead for sports but.......

It’s crazy for me that anyone can spend 2 minutes to check the data on the CDC website and see that our young, healthy kids aren’t in any more risk to COVID-19 than anything else. In addition, the most vulnerable group appears to be the be those over the age of 60 or those with other health...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

At this point most of us probably don’t know much about the opponent. In recent history, teams from NOVA haven’t fared well against Salem like Milbrook and John Champ. The style of football that Salem plays isn’t common in NOVA. Tuscarora can sling the ball but the OL doesn’t appear to have...

    Blacksburg's Terry decommits from UVA

And yet Tech wil beat UVA again next year.

    Final four

I agree with you on the final. I just think the BBurg QB will make an aggressive defense like LT pay. He’s got a number of receivers to throw to and has the pedigree.

State Semifinals: #2 Lake Taylor vs #4 Eastern View

Of the 4 teams remaining, I don’t see any game with a huge underdog. I think anyone remaining can win. Having said that, I feel like this is Blacksburg’s year. A good QB and speed for days. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

    Salem jv 10-0

True, but I’m talking about Salem. It’s tough to play at Salem. Some of the JV teams we play have 8th graders. My point was that our 9th and 10th graders playing full time varsity, look like Saturday guys at the next level.

    Salem jv 10-0

It takes a group of athletes and a strong core to have a potentially great HS football team at Salem. The JV squad rolled through the season, despite not having a number of Freshman and Sophmores. This is the core. When you combine the core with the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s playing varsity as...

    Salem jv 10-0

Yeah that was great! The best part was when they showed that the Salem JVs were up 27-0 at half time this year on a previously unbeaten Cougars team. Man that was good.

    Salem

So does this mean that you think Pulaski can't make a playoff run? I don't think their is much separation in 4D. We will find out soon how 4D stacks up to the rest of the state.

    Glass vs JF

I think there is some parity in the West this season. Each team better be ready to play when it counts!

Who’s the favorite to win 4A championship?

I honestly don't know if Salem, Dinwiddie, or Blacksburg are as good as they were last year and I think Northside is better this year (speaking to Salem's losses). All of Salem's losses were close, and a break or two here or there, the outcomes may have been different. I'm anxious to see Salem...
