    I've thought about this very thing for a long time, believe it or not. Aside from the military, I think it really started its slow takeover with the fast food restaurants. Remember when McDonalds, Burger King, and Kentucky Fried Chicken all became McD's, BK, and KFC (officially in 1991)...
