GAME THREAD West Virginia football vs. Texas Tech

5 TDs in 11+ quarters against FBS teams. Averaging less than 1 TD per half. Saw a stat a while back that over the past 4 years - WVU averaged something like 18 points a game in Big12 - which ranked 9th out of 10 teams during that time. (Kansas was 10th.)

    Cal, Stanford to Big12?

All these conference moves in the past 13 years feel like fear-of-missing-out decisions by schools. A few years from now, will UCF see Big12 as untenable? Will the same be felt by Stanford in the ACC? Washington in the B1G? Will there be a re-shuffling when schools grow tired if sending their...

    Cal, Stanford to Big12?

I am confused. Not long ago - the B12 guarded against adding members - because the pie had to be cut into more pieces. Not a problem if a league adds Texas and Oklahoma - as the pie gets bigger. If the B12 adds Cal, Stanford, WSU, OSU - will the TV networks give the conference $120 mil more per...

    When the ACC folds

I think half of my high school graduating class (Princeton, 1984) lives in N.C. now.

    When the ACC folds

I see UVa and UNC in B1G - not SEC. I think they are better fit academically and for Olympic sports. But SEC may want Virginia and NC markets... so maybe VaTech & NC State end up in SEC. ACC is going to break-up. Writing is on the wall.

Gotta figure the ACC is feeling a bit

Imagine Arizona turned their program around and made college football playoff 4 of the next 5 years. SEC or B1G would poach them. We would go if we had success and got the invitation. This never ends until SEC & B1G are the only 2 conferences of value and take every media dollar available. The...

    When the ACC folds

Some say Big12 takes 4 from ACC when they implode. "Value added" seems to be the only consideration. I'd like some drivable away games and old rivals. Big12 takes VA Tech, Pitt, NC State. I am no fan of GA Tech, but they may make sense. Syracuse and Louisville are probably in the conversation.

Gotta figure the ACC is feeling a bit

Read where some Florida State big shot made the comment, "...it is only a matter of 'when' - not 'if' - Fla St leaves ACC.

Reports coming the ACC is eyeing WVU, Oregon, Washington, SMU

5 years ago, I'd gave preferred the ACC. Now, I'd rather stay Big12. Let's just bring Pitt & VT to Big12.

    Big12 - are even-numbers of teams necessary?

I thought about that - for Olympic sports... 4-team pods... play your pod most to reduce travel cost. But the comment about getting to 14 could only be 2, 7-team divisions. Maybe "goal is 14" is to reduce charges of "raiding" when end up at 18 or 20 teams.

    Rock bottom

We did... and I hope they all stay. I have doubts about us competing consistently in the NIL market for football & basketball. It may be easier to just try and be good at basketball. You only have to buy 5 or 6 good players instead of 15 or 20 you'd need to buy for a top 10 football team.
