Should Vandy fire Bryce Drew?

Not much debate on the Vandy boards, most want him fired.

I was curious as to what other college basketball fans think?

Also, good luck in Nashville and beyond. I think once Herro got it rolling, UK hit that next gear and I think y'all will have a shot at cutting down some nets. I like your team for sure.

No, he’s doing an excellent job. Why get rid of what’s working?

The serious answer is no Frieda, he was missing their best player this yr. I would let him have a prove it yr, and if he gives you the same results, then hasta la vista baby.

I agree with this because we wouldn't even be having this discussion had Garland not gotten hurt but 0-19 is 0-19. Our fans are flipping out and have been all season.

I actually like Bryce, he's shown some good in-game ability as a coach. And he's recruiting well.

But, it looked like there is absolutely zero program leadership there - hence the freefall.

Overall, yes he should probably be fired. Can't go winless in conference with guys like Nesmith and Shittu.

I think he recruits well enough, combined w the injury to the catalyst of your team and best player, you give him 1 more year before deciding.

Not with the way he recruits but dang you would think they could have won a single game. That’s what makes me want to say yes.

Yeah, it was a weird year.

We probably did win two games where refs took them away from the kids:

1) We are up 5 on South Carolina with less than 2 minutes to play and Saben Lee got called for a technical foul after a blocked shot. Kid hits two free throws, then a 3 on the same possession and we lose at the buzzer.

2) Y'all all saw the Flop Williams game against UTjr where we are up 6, get the rebound to win with a minute left and Pat Adams changes the whole game.

After those two games, this team was completely toast.

Terrible season...

Shittu was a major reason we are in this mess. He completely tanked the season. He gave little to no effort and went well outside of the team concept game after game after game. Drew should have benched his *** but we only had 9 players and a few of those didn't belong in the SEC.

Simi is one of the biggest babies I've ever seen at this level. It's so bad that we don't even know if we want him back. If he wants to try to help the team win, give effort, work on his shooting and his post moves, we would love to have him back. If he is going to try to showcase his point guard skills to the NBA again to the detriment to his teammates, good riddance.

I would prefer to have Simi back, BUT ONLY if he is committed to being a good teammate.

The program is trending downward even with better recruiting. NCAA tourney with late run his first year. Last year had expectations and flopped and this year was a train wreck. I know vandy lost their starting pg but that improves the team by maybe 5 or 6 games. That's still a bad season considering the hype coming into this year.

If they were borderline .500 or fighting for postseason play I could see the argument of the injury for another year. But they were historically bad. I would cut ties with him.

Fired? No. Crap happens. Vandy actually looked decent before Garland got hurt. Remember when we lost Nerlens? Yeah...

BUT. His next season is a put up or shut up season. If he doesn’t make at least quarterfinals next year I could see him gone.

I would give him another year. If next year is similar—then you have to. Firing a coach over one bad (in this case horrible) season can make a good coach think twice about coming. Again though, if next season doesn’t show adequate reason for optimism, then you just can’t let him stay.

That’s a ridiculous comparison. Pretty sure we won a SEC game or two after Nerlens got hurt.

On the fence actually
It was pretty a abysmal season... I think Vandy is the first team to go completely winless in SEC conference play. I think it was a lot of bad luck early but that heartbreaker of a loss to UT took whatever they had left in them.
The seasons record should get Drew fired
However there were some mitigating factors with injuries and Shittu being a headcase
So... one more year to show improvement and reassess

Garland wasn't making this team good . He might of made them the 12th best SEC team instead of the 14th or something but this is on Drew and his sorry *** coaching . He and Johnson at Bama have zero business coaching in the SEC.

Not sure what happened to them this year, but not sure they could get anyone better. I still think he is a good coach and he has shown he can recruit too. They should stand down and be happy they have them. It is Vandy.

Maybe it has happened, but I don't remember a team going winless in the SEC the whole year. Not good.
I'd say he at least gets one more year. Losing Garland killed that team.

He is halfway into a 6-year deal. I know it was a nightmare season, but you don't fire someone 3 years in. What expectations is that setting up for the future?

Give him a pass because of Garland, and his new A.D. tells him it has to be better next year.

For as much of a basketball school some people think Vanderbilt is ... they have 10 all-time NCAA Tournament wins. Let that sink in for a second. 10. The same number we have in the past 4 years.

My daughter goes to school there and she said there are players that hate each other. I think if you have lost the team, how do you recover from that to be better next year?

Yes. Garland or no Garland, no excuse to go 0-19 in Conference play..that's pathetic. It's all on Bryce Drew. He's horrible.

UK was 4-6 after Nerlen went down at Florida....hardly a team that lost all their games and looked lifeless.

My point being it ended their season. Garland going down uniquely changed Vandy as Nerlens going down uniquely changed the makeup of that UK team.

Kevin Stallings never done that bad, I don't know if he should be fired or not but if I were coach and lost every league game, it wouldn't shock me. You don't get much time in today's game. I don't think they will fire him this year.

Yes he should be gone.

When teams quit like vandy did thats a guy who cannot motivate. Winning and losing are habits and when your team goes winless you have no choice bc losing is so engrained in your program now. The longer they wait the worse the climb back will be. See joker Phillips

What do you do? Give him another year see if he can win 4 games??
