LSU is done. Did they have any top recruits signed for next year? Plus wonder what players from the current team take off after this year. Is Naz Reid an OAD? If not we could use him.

Wiretap Will is highly unlikely to ever coach at another NCAA institution. To continue coaching, he'll need to go the JUCO, NAIA, G-League or like Pitino, the overseas route. You can't be caught on a wiretap saying the things he said and have any hope of keeping your job.
Unless you are the coach at UNC or Duke then he’d probably get a pass. Bilas and Vitale would probably on TV defending him!

I don’t understand why LSU is suspending him I just roll with it and see how far it gets you. No matter what you do now the ncaa is going to throw the hammer at you might as well try to win a title who cares if they vacate a title is a title
Suspend the coach, sit Smart. Any success you have from that point would not be vacated unless an investigation turns up other players.

I want to hear Bill Self getting the same treatment. I look for the hammer to fall on UL, Arizona, Kansas and LSU this summer.

Current position

Frank Williams "Will" Wade (born November 26, 1982) is a former American college basketball coach, most recently serving as head coach for the Louisiana State University (LSU) men's basketball team before being suspended indefinitely after a wiretap caught him discussing potential player payments for attending LSU.

That's pretty funny.

Here’s the stink of it too. There are innocent kids on this team that will be penalized by actions of those that we call adults. It’s a shame.
Yeah, I mean the kid was from Baton Rouge in the first place. Obviously I'm sure Naz got paid as well, but some of those kids may have gone their anyway.

How does that work? Technically they shouldn’t even make the tourney then. Has a team ever won a title and been able to keep it with maybe just one regular season win?

We need the Will Wades out of college basketball.
There wouldn't be many left if that happened. College basketball is riddled with stuff like what happened at LSU. Coaches, boosters, refs, school administration, etc. Too much money involved.
Having said that, the cheating, paying players, changing grades, fake classes, etc. that goes on in basketball is NOTHING compared to what is happening in college football. Not even close.

So you think they had to pay a player ranked in the 30's but were just able to sign a top 15 player on the up and up?
I was being sarcastic would love to have Reed he begged for Cal to offer him. I think we all know why Cal didn't offer. Really love Reed's play.

LSU trying to get in front of this. Because Wade is a fairly new coach it is being dealt with correctly. However Self and Miller have done the same or worse and still coach because of their names and power they have built up. Hopefully, this starts the dominos to fall. Even the big boys.

Might not but that would be their only chance. Thay are still going to be the #1 seed in the SEC tournament and I doubt the NCAA will hold them out until an investigation although they probably should.

LSU administration had no choice. The program would have been slammed on every single college basketball broadcast over the weekend and into next week if they didn't do something.
this. and they won’t be able to wait long to fire him without hurting their program further. they don’t have 6-12 months to wait for the ncaa. if you’re lsu you get the ball rolling.

I still care as much as ever, specifically about Kentucky basketball.

It's my overall investment into the sport itself that is waning fast, and it's a perspective on our wins and losses that I think gives me extra patience.

People made fun of Cal about it, but you could just as easily say we won the LSU game or Seton Hall game. The record doesn't show it, but how much does the record even matter at this point?

With things getting vacated and everyone with a brain being aware that even a lot of the stuff that sticks was fraudulent, it's just hard for me to view losing to Carolina in the tournament as a "failure" or not being a 1-seed as a "disappointment."

To have the ridiculous, corrupt, random regular season that college basketball puts together and then decide it with a single-elimination, randomly assigned tournament played in football stadiums to crown a champion makes me wonder if I'm in my right mind to watch any of this at all. If it weren't essentially a part of my identity, family history and all friendships and relationships, I couldn't justify it.
This is an outstanding post. One of the best I’ve seen. Pretty much exactly how I feel.

Does anyone find it telling that they already named the assistant coach as "interim head coach". I don't remember that being done for short term issues. He'll never coach again at the NCAA level or at the very least, it will be a very long time. I think the best thing for him at this point is to fully admit everything, talk about the temptation for a young coach to accept the "system" (or some such bs) and show remorse and fully cooperate with the NCAA. If he does that he might be able to be a coach again in 5 years or so.

The NCAA needs to set an example with the schools like Arizona and Kansas who know that their coaches cheated but do nothing about it. The NCAA has a long history of showing no remorse for programs that try and do the right thing . It seems as though that the deny, deny, deny, tactic will get you either no punishment or less punishment.
