Any chance Wiseman flips?

Memphis is a dumpster fire this year and Romeo Langford's struggles at IU are the most recent reminder that one player, no matter how good, can't turn a program around alone. Starting to wonder if a terrible season coupled with Penny seeming to lose his composure with the media and other coaches might make James wise up (see what I did there?) and see that Kentucky is the much better choice.

Cal wouldn’t take him now anyway.
Good luck Wiseman, you're going to need it.

Wiseman took the balloon from the clown who promised that he'd float too.

James is stuck in the dead lights now. There's no coming back.

Here's Pennywise Hardaway now, welcoming his next group of potential recruits to Memphis...

Kids all think they're good enough to be the saving grace for a program.

I'm honestly not sure I'd take him in the event Memphis sucked and he wanted to bail. Now would I take him today if he said "I made a bad choice", sure. But not if the situation goes south.

Picking Memphis says everything I need to know about Wiseman as a person. Not strong willed enough to make his own decisions. Not exactly a critical thinker either. Not trying to bash him, but the second he went to Memphis to play for an unknown coach.. basically made him not UK/Cal material.

i think it would be more satisfying to see him stay at Memphis. It would only help confirm Penny is a fraud if he’s unable to win games even with talented players.
He’s gonna be another one of those guys who you see at the nba draft next year and say “oh hey I remember that guy.”

You mention that and it reminded me of Terrence Jones. yes he picked Washington (I think) then changed his pick to UK the next day but that seems to have carried over to where he got in the NBA. He is good enough to play in the NBA but his decision-making seemed to be suspect. I sure wish TJ could get it together and get with Cal to see if his career can be salvaged. I bet in a SECOND Cal would put his weight behind getting TJ another chance.

You think he cares about changing the program? None of these one and dined care about anything other than getting to the NBA.

It just amazes me given how many players thrive in Cal's system, that these top players continue to give us the Heisman. Shai is not a lottery pick at any other school. Hagans will probably be a 1st rounder now, and that too would probably not happen elsewhere. When are these kids going to wake up?

No. It says the opposite. The easy choice is coming here, playing with 12 McD AAs and getting highlighted every day for a year.

Going to Memphis has much more stress. If what some say, he is trying to save the program, he has a lot in his shoulders.

I think the more likely scenario is that Huggins retires after this year and Oscar Tshiebwe ends up here.

I wouldn’t mind this but why would Huggins retire after signing probably his best recruit since he’s been there? I can see Huggins retiring after Tshiebwe leaves but not before.

Lot more going on behind the scenes than simply coaches' and programs' track records to sell.

Fact is, all things being equal, I'm picking John Calipari with a UK on his shirt in a kid's living room to lock up a commitment 10/10 times. His success, and UK as a program, should rarely, rarely, lose out on a recruit. Kid and his family go into either one of Cal's 2 offices and they're surrounded by pictures of Cal with his 30+ 1st round draft picks and four #1 overall draft picks. While at the top college program of all-time with the largest fanbase? ****.

Unfortunately, all things are not equal. AAU, inner circles, shoe companies, agents, etc. College basketball recruiting is a cesspool and Calipari has to be very careful while wading in it because he knows he's under a microscope by the NCAA and UK's compliance department.

Generally like your posts but that is a little harsh.

Outside of the stupid/ridiculous unicorn I think Wiseman handled it fairly well.

Put yourself in his shoes...he knows no matter where he goes he is almost certain to be there one year. The coach recruiting coaches him in HS/AAU and he is from the area. It all makes sense.

Now, I don't think it was the best decision- but I'm a UK fan, why would I?

Cal/KP would have prepared him better for the league but I cannot bash the kid for staying home and playing for someone he is 100% comfortable with.

I liked the above post you referenced and I agree Wiseman did things a WHOLE lot differently than Zion. he did things correctly. If he had thoughts of de-committing, I am sure the UK coaches would work with him to get things right. I know one thing, Cal would not talk with Wiseman until Wiseman did de-commit and got his release.

I would like to seem them get in as an 8 or 9 seed, in our bracket as the 1 since the committee couldn't pass that story up.

Then we stomp them by like 30, make him go through the handshake line after that.

And just as many fail in it. If us the law of averages.
