terrible comments. Totally ripped Richards who cal failed to play when we needed him to start OT. He said he “didn’t remember”. He’s been doing this with freshman now for 10 years he should know we needed a timeout to refresh their memory. That’s called coaching. You don’t expect or assume anything about your team you coach them and live by the rule of 50. You gotta tell them 50x til they hear you. Can’t believe he threw the players under the bus.

Can't wait until the bus drops him off outside Lexington on a one-way fare.

I am not listening but if he doesn't own up to it being a mistake not calling a time out, then don't point fingers at the players. You wanted this Cal, it a process remember?
Basically said he could’ve called the timeout. But said the players have to call it he can’t.

He’s still throwing players. Not addressing that he could have done some things as the coach to win the game. Really bad to throw freshman and Sophs under the bus and not address his short comings as a coach. Says the “kids” should have called the timeout. Says nick forgot what to do in the last 10 seconds. This is his lowest point can’t believe how he just dumped on his players. You can’t say “they’re young” then say “they need to call timeout” you’re the coach cal. You need to help these guys get
Through the growing pains.

The problem isn't Richards. The problem is Cal. He's running a system for Anthony Davis and has Richards trying to execute it. He's asking guys to do things they can't do. Cal needs to adjust to the players he has not the recruits that ended up at Duke. The worst mistake a coach can ever make is asking someone to do something they aren't capable of doing and that's what we are systematically asking them to do. We need to re calibrate our system to work with the assumption that we don't have top 5 players. We need to put Hagans and Herro in a good place and not have Cal just roll the ball out there and expect their athleticism to take over because it won't.

I don't know why everyone is complaining. It's not like Seton Hall is a mediocre team. They're really, really good. They'll probably end up as a top 2 seed when it's all said and done.

Plus, it's only December. This is a process, even when our team has four veterans in its rotation. Can't expect these guys to play with cohesiveness yet.

Which is ridiculous. When they were on his end of the court, he should have been advising them about what to do. Then, after Hall hit the three, he should've been yelling for them to call the timeout.

It's difficult to do anything noteworthy when you play less than 10 minutes a game.

Richards did snag 4 boards in limited time, and didn't do anything to sabotage us on offense. That's a plus.

Plus they were killing us in the lane after Reid went out. Took cal til 2.5 minutes in OT to put nick in and after that they couldn’t get in there.

You’re exactly right!! I’ve thought this for a long time. Cal is trying to run an nba offense with G league players at best.

Let me first say, I didn't listen, and I'm very aware that what gets conveyed on the Internet is almost NEVER what was actually said. But as I've said before nobody knows "the beginning of the end" when it's actually happening. It's only after you've had time to reflect that you say, that's when it really started to go downhill.

When coaches start blaming players -- and again, I don't know that Cal did that -- you're almost always closer to the finish line than anyone realizes at the time.

This is how the end begins. It started at the end of the Wisky loss, but this is how it really begins with Cal. I can see him walking away sooner than I thought.
Yeah, someone suggested that it was the Duke game that everyone would look back on and say, "That's when you knew it was over." And I agree. It may not be over this year, but Cal's trending down.

Charles Matthews was terrible too until he met a coach truly interested in coaching and one who ran a real offense. Nick Richard's would be a stud under the right coach.

He said they are young and then commenced to blaming it all on Richards. Repeatedly.

My thoughts exactly. I didn’t listen yet either but I think his tone has changed recently and he’s seriously considering a leave at the end of the season.

I like Cal but somethings up.

A 2 seed. Give me a break. They will probably be 19-12 come tourney time.

Cal is a hall of fame coach with experience in tight games. Team has never played a OT and he blames the players?

As the leader he needs to signal to the team to call timeout, period. Then he says the team is young. So why leave it in there handst to call timeout? You're the coach.

And then said he has to have a dental procedure on Monday and won’t make the coaches show. And going to do some recruiting.

I'll give you 10-1 SH is not a 2 seed.

Yep. An adjustment in Cal's system would go a long way. Either way we can't have Nick Richards or Quade leave at the end of the year. This total team rebuild ever season isn't sustainable even if we had gotten Zion and Barrett.

Yes...it's not like he screams and yells at them at the top of his lungs the entire game, right?

Cal, done a piss poor job coaching, coming out of timeouts with nothing drawn up, plus not calling timeout at the end of the game. Totally ridiculous!

Right Cal. Cuz if you threw your hands into a big T and yelled “TIMEOUT!!!” those kids would have had no clue what you wanted from them.
I assume thats why he was walking it up the court, waiting for Cal to tell him to call a time out

If he runs Richards off, we might not have a single returning frontcourt player, and none signed for next year. Good times.
