You know what, UK football is 6-1 with a defense that is legitimately stalwart and UK basketball looks like it is set to go on Sherman's March across college basketball.

Pretty damn good day to be a Wildcat fan, gang.

:pimp:

(And Louisville is so pathetic that they aren't even worth mentioning.)
And if anyone cares (they don't), the UK men's soccer balls are ranked 3rd in the country. Maybe we should pay ESPN to put some "Year of the Wildcat" horseshit on one of its channels.

This weekend was basically like an itinerary straight out of a kentuckytourism.com ad.

Track on Friday after lunch at the Lexington Club, was one of the better weather days i've had out there. Geese and I left plenty of money to stimulate the economy. Burnt orange seems to be the color of fall for the gals. Man.

Got to take a visit out to the GFeeder estate in Versailles. Place is a beaut. Poor guy has a couple little heartbreakers on his hands though. I dont know how you dad's with girls are ever able to say no to anything.

Did some drinks at Merrick and then met up with a couple other buddies where we polished off most of a bottle of Blantons.

Saturday morning came a bit too early, but after a few gatorades and BC powders I pulled it together enough to go buy some bourbon at one of the release day distributions. Did ok- Four Roses anniversary bottle, some EH Taylor... stuff we dont get down here. Magee's doughnuts and coffee and then spent some time exploring campus and the outskirts... went by my old place on Aylesford and then one I lived in on State St, which looks like it should be condemned.

Big thank you's to the Anth's for the pregame fireball and the game ticket... pretty nice way to watch a football game. A kid from Shively surely doenst take that for granted.

One of these days rudd and I are going to have to go shoot some birds together. Its possible for two men to put aside opposing baseball fandoms and still be cordial. Other reds fans like Willy could learn a lot from him.

Did *not* win the powerball friday.

UKO posts something stupid, runs away from owning it or explaining it and reappears in a few weeks to repeat.

And yet, we still entertain him.

It's actually astounding how many UKO's are on sports forums. Guys that probably get laughed at in normal everyday water cooler talk because they depth of their knowledge is from what they picked up on from ESPN or came from a headline. But, this - in their mind- makes them genius sports ball.

I'll shoot the sports **** with anyone. However, I ask people who their teams are. If you tell me a bunch of front-running ******** like watching the Yankees, Cowboys, Man U, Lakers, etc...and can't settle on a state affiliation, I just roll eyes and dismiss it. I don't have time for that ********. I want to talk sports with long suffering fans like myself and not d-bags that front-run any chance they get. Anyone can buy a t-shirt at Walmart and become a fan. Very few know misery like I do.

In short, UKO is a t-shirt fan with **** takes 99.9% of the time.

-Cracks me up how Clark treats his visits to Kentucky. Stuff we take for granted.

-Saturday was a blast, per usual. Beautiful day, weird night weather wise. We've all seen much lower temps, but I'm not sure I've ever been colder in that stadium. TShirt & windbreaker didn't help, but :joy: at 50MPH wind gusts all night -- **** was wild.

-Jack Ryan was solid -- basically a poor man's Homeland, or even 24. Nothing that hasn't been done multiple times with other shows, but quick & entertaining. Sets up nicely for Season 2.

-We've had a lot of really good/great guys come through on Defense in this era. Woodyard, Trevathan, Dupree, etc -- Allen, to me, is the best of the bunch. He's like watching an exciting offensive player in terms of entertainment, truly unstoppable.

-Vegas this weekend, UK/Georgia the following week, UK/Duke a few days after that -- then, down the stretch in Football w/ Basketball fully under way.

Yeah, that's why I love Fall. [cheers]

-Forgot to order Duke/UK tickets. So that's pretty great. Should be a cheap mistake:mad:

-I loved the 2nd half last night. Cal, throws Rooks vs Vets and vets jump out to a quick 20pt lead and then the fight shows up in the rooks.

-Also loved the Travis vs Washington and Johnson vs Herro matchups. Those 4 were just going all out. at each other.

-Sitting with Geese first row and he's absolutely wearing the officials out.:joy: The ref comes over and is basically like, "hey if you're going to stay on me all game can you at least keep me updated on the KC score(we all know how that went)?" Ended up chatting with him the whole game. UK would be smart to park MCF and Geese in the same spot for each game.

Quicks:
*Herro is a f*cking star. My word. Bizarro world that he came to UK and Zion is at Duke.
*Travis is such an intelligent player. Just seals dudes off so well on both ends with that massive frame. 2nd chance points are going to be unreal.
*Johnson is the dude though. Swiss army knife. Bulldog. Alpha. The guy we were missing in 2015 but had in 2012.
*Peeps still sleeping on EJ.
*I haven't even mentioned Washington, Green, Quickly, Hagans, Richards. Lolz.
-No tempering these expectations. Dad is hype.

-Sicko Mode and Uproar:fire::fire:

Keldon has to work on body control w/ that floater he loves -- he charges (per SEC officials) on damn near every one of them. Get ready for a quick 2 w/ him, early & often.

-Glad to see Baker calm down and go 4-5 in the 2H. Still don't see where any minutes will come from for that guy on this particular team, hopefully he sticks around.

-Wish Hagans would try and beat someone. Dude goes nowhere with his dribble.

F***ing randoms - how do they work?:

- Spent the weekend freezing my *** off in beautiful Dayton at a soccer tourney. It was great. Did manage to get free food at a restaurant when a few of the dads kept its outdoor umbrellas from flying off into traffic and messing up every car in the parking lot. The wind was insane and uncalled for. Mary Poppins couldn't have dealt with that ****.

- Did enjoy being in Ohio on a weekend when the CAYUTS won and Ohio State got its *** kicked.

- My youngest kid's winter soccer team is named BARFALONA. Guess who came up with that one?

- I'm going to attempt to participate in NaNoWriMo next month and crank out a 50,000-word novel in a month. I'll last a week, at best.

- I don't know how in the world you don't start Tyler Herro. That guy is filthy. I'd give him a run at Terry Wilson's job tbh.

- I hate all of you.

Just once I want to see Kentucky play in one of these super secret closed door charity scrimmages against another team. Villanova beat North Carolina this weekend in what was probably an awesome game, and then last night Nevada got run out of the gym by Washington.

Good. Eff Nevada. Hope they get run out of the gym every night.

No. He started at the beginning and never let up.
I respect it.

So, 6-1 leading the East best D and running attack of my life and I’m almost a man...and our 1-3 QB’s on the depth chart have parents who are tweet fighting fans, throwing shade at each other and the coaches.

Grrreeeaaat!

...and about Josh Allen. I don’t know where he ranks, but you would be hard pressed to come up with a non-Couch or Cobb player that impacts game after game more than he does. I remember going to a b-ball game in 12’ against Ark and having primo style Jamanthony seats and on offense the Hog’s players all looked for AD at all times, like it obviously messed up the flow of their system even when he wasn’t involved in the play. You can tell the other team just feels JA’s presence, especially on passing downs.

- Could hear Geese loud and clear on TV, which is a surprise to no one.

- The senior Diebler, the sharpshooter, is Herro’s floor.

- This squad has ‘96 and ‘15 depth.

- Rothstein is awful- and I don’t GAF that he knows a lot.

- Green and Travis aren’t Herro, but those are a couple more shotmakers.

- People forget just how good Snell is...

- What about those EJ Montgomery face up jumpers? Smooth.

- The pieces with this group compliment each other so well. I’m not saying this group will be as good as 2015 but they should be quicker and the pieces don’t overlap each other.

- Travis won’t give an inch on the block.

- Andy Kennedy was great on the broadcast. Solid pickup by the SEC Network. Just do your thing and don’t give in to the stupid schticks.

- Hagans is going to frustrate the crap out of opponents on defense. Like, opposing point guards may give up and pass it off out of frustration.

- If you want to zone this team. Good luck.

Nobody wants to include Quickley with the shooters? I will.

-PJ looked awesome in the 2nd half...thought he was KJ a few times at first glance when he was running/driving. Looks like a completely new player -- he's evolving into an NBA 3.

Did get a kick out of him trying to muscle Travis a few times, and basically bouncing off of him like a wall. That guy is a brick *********.

Snell is awesome. I haven't seen anyone say otherwise.

But, it's going to be difficult to win out if everyone just keys in on Snell by stacking the box knowing TW won't make the right decision or hit the open receiver.

He doesn't even have to do much. Just keep the ball moving with short passes to Conrad and the WRs. Not look for the deep ball and panic when it's not there. Oh, and not scramble with the ball sticking out 2 feet off his body. This also assumes Gran doesn't try to get cute and call stupid f'ing plays when it's not necessary.

This team has all the pieces to put together long, exhausting drives and eat clock. Having a solid defense is just icing on the cake. No one is asking for flashy. Just move the chains, wear defenses down and play the same game defensively that they have been playing all year. I'm fine with seeing a boring *** offensive scheme because throughout the history of CFB, it's proven to hold up well against most systems.

Washington and Travis are some bad MFers inside. Tough guys. Add in a lithe Richards and a smooth Montgomery. Our frontcourt is stacked.

But I think I love our wings best- Herro and Johnson are so damn good.

There's "having a boring offense with a great running game" and there's "having nothing offensively but a great running game", and since the USC game it's just the latter.

I'd prefer to go to the triple option at this point ala Navy and Ga Tech because our RPO-game is going to dry up fast if Terry Wilson can't complete more than 3 passes a game. In all seriousness, we should move to Hoak every so often to give our opponent's D something to think about / prepare for. Hell, it provided a spark against Central Michigan (can't believe I'm typing that when we're ranked 12th).

No, they won. IDGAF how as long as it's a 'W'. But, it's not like anyone is asking him to become Brady. I would assume he'll flourish with quick slants rather than attempting long pass plays where the defense has ample time to get in position.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think just pounding the rock with Snell beats Mizzou and UGA. Need to show a little threat through the air to keep the defense honest.

Roll the pocket (to the wide side) and let Turry hit Conrad or Tavin for a 4 yard gain on first down. It will be there every time and puts us in a good down and distance. For some reason, we keep Turry in the pocket or roll him out to the short side of the field (8 yards deep) and then hit Conrad right as he's going out of bounds for a 1 yard gain.

I honestly can't figure why we do that. Above + 1 or two pop passes up the seam to Boover or Conrad a game is really all we need.

Also, run some more jet sweeps. Get Bowden on the perimeter 4-5 times a game and he's going to break at least one. Doing it one time a game trying to catch the D off balance is ridiculous given our stagnant offense

Wilson doesn't have to even pass the ball. Its mainly his ****** decision making in the RPO that is the killer. Teams are giving him the run because when he does he a) is a step slow in deciding where to take it, b) will run right into the defense when he is decisive or c) he fumbles. Hell, I don't even mind the fumbling or inaccuracy given our defense, but it says a lot when opposing defenses give zero respect to the fastest guy on our offense who also happens to touch the ball every snap.

I don’t have a good handle on the PGs yet. I like all 3 but not one more than the other. As I’ve stated, I’d probably go Green but he’s definitely the worst of the trio defensively.

I think we've all come to grips with the fact that Wilson isnt going to even be an *average* passing QB, so about the best we can hope for is that he can do just enough to take some pressure off of Snell and Co., and just not make stupid turnovers... that would be ideal at this point.

The first fumble, which was bad, at least he was busting it downfield and making a play. That backward pass to Bowden was pretty inexcusable.

Perimeter D is going to be an issue. Really the only one I can think of.
