My sister's friend in Louisville did it a few years ago. He trained by filling a pack with as much weight as he could, then walking up and down the stairs in one of the downtown Louisville high-rise buildings for hours at a time.

Doing that sort of stuff isn't that hard physically, but mentally it's just awful. I did an hour and ten minutes on the stairmaster (the one with actual steps) today with a 55 lb pack. The clock seemed like it was going backwards.

I did the math - based on the number of steps I took at 8 inches per step, I'd get to the halfway point in about three hours (5,000 feet elevation gain). You rest up at that time, and then wake up at midnight to go to the summit (another 4,000 feet or so, but with a lighter pack). Then you go all the way down that same day.

So as long as I can extrapolate my 1 hour on a stairmaster at about 800 feet elevation in the comfort of a YMCA to going for two days at altitude, cold weather, crevasses and potential avalanches, I'll have nothing to worry about. Besides, you don't want to over-train!

The Kap ad is actually pretty damn good. He's a jackass, and I don't think he believes everything he is supposed to represent, but the message of the commercial is a good one.

Are you in decent shape? I mean you're not running up this thing. You'll be fine. If you dont summit it wont be because of your cardio.

For gods sake, the mock Nike memes have GOT to F’ing stop.

Every single one is terrible.

Norway, of all places is the leader in mass shooting gun deaths per capita.

If I had to eat that food, I'd probably go postal as well.

I’m pretty sure that statistic is misleading because of the dude that killed 69 people at one time in 2011.

I don’t think Norway had a mass shooting in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, or this year.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m no gunball.

The only stat I've seen is that the US has 4.6% of the worlds population and 1.43% of the mass shootings, placing it well down the per capita list.

-Random white guy with a backpack in a public place raises more flags for me than anything else I encounter in my daily routine.

-36 years old and I'm *giddy* about attending a stock the bar engagement party this weekend for a younger buddy of mine. It's been awhile for the old man.

-High 70s during the day and low 60s at night. :cool2:

-If our team of veterans don't play hard tomorrow night and with a F you attitude then I'll concede that Stoops can't motivate them. After last year, our lovable dipshits should be ornery.

-F The Swamp and F Florida. CFB has changed and they don't get the cream of the Sunshine State automatically anymore, yet they seem to think Dan Mullen just turned them on a dime. Not buying it. Cats. By. 7.

-KSBar last night, the setup is great. TVs everywhere, cold draft beer, spacious, clean. I like it. Wings and fries were good. Burger was solid but my only criticism is... if you're going to call it a "Great American Burger" then use American cheese. Especially on a thin double patty burger, really the only cheese anyone should use on a burger anyway. They really did a good job of designing the place without making it cheesy. Big sporting days will be awesome.

-Never done the Polo thing but the Hove's have always enjoyed it. Free ticket, free booze, Mt Brilliant. Sounds like a solid way to spend a Friday.

-According to texts I received, "The Mummies killed it last night

-Think we get beat handily tomorrow. Couple TDs at least.

-Golf Channel and Vuelta, large coffee, nice little work Friday lined up.

QB(s) need a few games to get their feet under them, IMO. The Swamp in game 2 doesn't seem like the place to figure that out. Don't let it turn into a bloodbath, make some gains, come home healthy. Let's focus on those 2 important home games.
